The opening of this museum marks a new development in the preservation and introduction of the unique cultural heritage associated with the art of perfume making. The project is located in the 275-year-old Aya Baniya church in Isparta province, after a meticulous restoration process to preserve the architectural and historical values of the locality.
Famous for its rose growing and processing, Isparta has long been considered the "rose capital" of Türkiye, where most of the rose essential oil is produced for the domestic and international markets. The Misparta Museum was born as a space connecting the past with the present, helping visitors better understand the history and long-standing traditions of the fragrance industry in this land.
The most prominent highlight of the museum is the 4,500-year-old perfume formula, considered one of the oldest formulas in the world . Experts have researched and restored this formula based on archaeological documents, giving the public the opportunity to experience the scent once used in the rituals and activities of ancient residents. This is considered an important testament to the early development of the art of perfume making in the Asia Minor region.

In addition to the above-mentioned special artifacts, Misparta also displays many documents, distillation tools, ancient incense burners and traditional essential oil samples, reflecting the formation and transformation of the fragrance industry through each historical period. The exhibition space is designed to combine the ancient elements of the Aya Baniya church with modern display applications, creating a vivid visual and olfactory experience for viewers.
In addition to sightseeing activities, the museum also organizes hands-on experience programs, allowing visitors to learn about the process of creating a perfume, from essential oil extraction to fragrance mixing. Through these activities, Misparta hopes to contribute to promoting the local traditional craft more widely, while attracting domestic and foreign tourists .
The opening of the Misparta Fragrance Museum not only expands the network of cultural institutions in Türkiye but also affirms the efforts to preserve and promote the intangible heritage associated with the craft of perfume making – a field that has been closely associated with the lives of the people of Misparta for centuries.
