This year's Spanish Super Cup took place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). Real Madrid beat Atletico 5-3 in the first semi-final while Barcelona faced weak opponents Osasuna in the other semi-final at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona created a number of scoring chances in the first half, but Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski were both unable to beat goalkeeper Sergio Herrera. Osasuna nearly opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, but Ante Budimir could not beat goalkeeper Inaki Pena in a one-on-one position.
After a goalless first half, Barcelona picked up the pace in the second. Lewandowski put Barcelona ahead in the 59th minute with a low shot from Ilkay Gundogan's pass.
In the 68th minute, Joao Felix dribbled down the left wing and shot into the far corner, but his shot was parried by goalkeeper Herrera. Osasuna had a few chances to score after that, but Budimir and Raul Garcia were both quite unlucky.

In the third minute of extra time, after a skillful dribble by Felix, prodigy Lamine Yamal decisively finished with his left foot, sealing a 2-0 victory for Barcelona.
