From 4:00 p.m. on April 28, at Noi Bai International Airport, aviation procedures using biometric technology on the VNeID platform will be officially implemented.
Accordingly, passengers of airlines: Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet when taking domestic flights from Noi Bai International Airport can use VNeID biometrics to complete aviation procedures, replacing the previous presentation of documents.
In order to best serve the travel needs during the peak period of April 30 and May 1 and to anticipate the digital transformation trend in the aviation industry, Noi Bai International Airport has closely coordinated with units under the Ministry of Public Security and airlines to deploy the installation and operation of equipment systems at 5 security screening checkpoints and 15 boarding gates at Passenger Terminal T1.

The application of biometric technology significantly shortens check-in time, reduces pressure at security areas, increases throughput, and provides a more modern, convenient and safer experience for passengers.
At the security screening area, there are 3 biometric security check lanes in area C, 2 biometric security check lanes in hall E (near the traditional security check area). At the boarding gate area, biometric identification devices have been installed at 15 boarding gates, from gate number 1 to gate number 15.
To use VNeID during airline check-in, passengers follow these three steps:
Step 1, check-in, passengers open the VNeID application on their personal phone. Select Other services → Aviation procedures → Check-in online and follow the instructions on the screen. After completing online check-in, passengers continue to move to the security check area.
Step 2, at the security checkpoint, passengers move to the security check area equipped with a biometric system. Stand in the indicated position with footprints, look directly at the camera screen for the system to perform facial recognition. After the system successfully authenticates and opens the door, passengers continue to move into the security screening area.
Step 3, at the boarding gate, passengers do the same: Stand in the specified position, look at the camera for the system to recognize. After successful authentication, the door will automatically open and passengers will board the plane without having to contact the staff.

To facilitate the VNeID check-in process, passengers need to update their VNeID level 2 electronic identification account and ensure they are using the latest version of the application. Download and update the latest mobile application of Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet to support quick information confirmation. Bring valid identification documents (ID card, citizen identification card, passport, etc.) as backup.
Noi Bai International Airport and airlines have arranged staff on duty at support points (check-in area, security check, boarding gate) to promptly guide and support passengers when encountering problems while using VNeID biometrics.
In the coming time, Noi Bai International Airport will continue to coordinate with related units to expand the scope of application, perfect the system, meet the increasing travel demand and passenger expectations of a smart, modern airport.
