Arrest of subject making billions of dong profit on a human kidney

(Dan Tri) - Nguyen Trong Luan agreed to buy kidneys from people who wanted to sell them, then supply them to people in need for up to 1.45 billion VND each.

On December 24, the Criminal Police Department of Thua Thien Hue Province Police issued a decision to temporarily detain Nguyen Trong Luan (born 1990, residing in Vinh city, Nghe An province) for the act of buying and selling human body parts.

According to information from the police, since February 2023, Nguyen Trong Luan has contacted people who want to buy and sell kidneys nationwide through his personal phone number.

At the investigation agency, Nguyen Trong Luan confessed that he had agreed to buy a kidney from a seller for 380 to 450 million VND, then brokered the sale to the buyer for 1-1.45 billion VND per kidney.

After agreeing on the price to buy and sell the kidney, Luan arranged for the kidney seller to move to a place near Hue Central Hospital to do the testing procedures for the kidney transplant.

Once the procedures are complete and the seller enters the operating room, Luan will transfer the entire agreed amount to the seller.

On December 20, while Luan was organizing a kidney transplant brokerage, the police discovered and arrested him.
