According to the General Department of Market Management ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), market management forces in Hanoi and Lao Cai have discovered more than 2.5 tons of food including pork brain, pork bones, and frozen chicken of unknown origin in these localities.
Frozen pork brains seized at Tam Hiep market (Thanh Tri district, Hanoi ) on April 17.
Previously, on April 17, Market Management Team No. 17, Hanoi Market Management Department in coordination with Hanoi Police inspected 2 business establishments in Thanh Tri District and discovered nearly 1.5 tons of frozen food with signs of violating food safety regulations.
Specifically, at the business household at store number 32, Tam Hiep market, Tam Hiep commune, Thanh Tri district, the interdisciplinary inspection team discovered that the establishment was selling 1.05 tons of frozen pork brain without invoices or documents proving the origin of this shipment.
Also at Tam Hiep market, the inspection team discovered a business household selling 300 kg of pork bones and 150 kg of chicken thighs. These were frozen foods, but the owner of the establishment could not present invoices or documents proving the legality of these goods.
Market Management Team No. 17 has temporarily detained all frozen foods showing signs of violations at the two above-mentioned businesses for handling according to regulations.
Also on April 17, Market Management Team No. 1, Lao Cai Province Market Management Department coordinated with the Police Department for Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy , Smuggling and Environment, Lao Cai Province Police to examine a shipment of goods from a business household in Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park (Lao Cai City).
This shipment contained 70 plastic bags, each containing 15 kg of frozen pork brain but without any information showing the origin, place of production or packaging. Upon verification, the owner of the shipment was Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (36 years old), residing in Son Man village, Van Hoa commune, Lao Cai city.
When working with the inspection team, Mr. Nguyen Van Hai also could not present invoices or documents proving the origin of the goods as prescribed.
Lao Cai Province Market Management determined that Mr. Nguyen Van Hai had signs of violating the trading of goods of unknown origin and source, and at the same time decided to temporarily detain all 1.05 tons of frozen pork belly to handle the violation according to regulations.
