Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared victory in the second round of the presidential election on May 28.

“We will govern the country for another five years. We will be worthy of your trust like the last 21 years,” Erdogan told supporters in Istanbul. “I want to express my gratitude to my country for giving us a day of democracy. The winners of both the May 14 election and the May 28 election are all 85 million of our citizens.”
According to Türkiye's Supreme Election Council, with about 75.42% of the votes counted, Mr. Erdogan is leading his opponent Kemal Kilicdaroglu with 53.41% and 46.59% of the votes respectively. Meanwhile, Turkey's Anadolu and ANKA news agencies reported that nearly 99% of the votes have been counted and the advantage belongs to Mr. Erdogan.
On the same day, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani congratulated Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on his victory in the presidential election, before the final election results were announced.
On his Twitter account, King Hamad al-Thani wished Mr. Erdogan success in his new term. Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated his "close friend" Tayyip Erdogan, affirming that this victory is proof that the Turkish people appreciate Mr. Erdogan's independent foreign policy.

His opponent, Kilicdaroglu, leader of the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and candidate of the six-party opposition National Coalition, also conceded defeat and accepted the vote results.
Leaders of many countries around the world such as the US President, British Prime Minister, Russian President, Egyptian President, Iranian President and the King of Qatar immediately congratulated Mr. Erdogan on his victory.
