Hello Ms. Le!
If a 7-month-old baby is still breastfeeding well, gaining weight steadily, sleeping well through the night, and showing no signs of difficulty breathing, turning blue, or being startled, it is usually not a serious abnormality. Some common causes of snoring in young children include:
- Mild nasal mucosal edema due to cold or dry weather.
- Nasal congestion, baby doesn't know how to blow nose yet, lying on back can easily cause mild congestion while sleeping.
- The nose and throat structure is narrower than that of adults, so when sleeping deeply, the soft tissue vibrates, creating a light snoring sound.
However, if the baby snores loudly for a long time, has difficulty breathing, wheezing, intermittent breathing, sweats a lot while sleeping, is startled easily, or has slow weight gain, parents should take the baby to an ENT doctor to rule out causes such as enlarged adenoids, nasal and throat abnormalities, or sleep apnea.
You can use saline 2-3 times a day to clean your baby's nose, let your baby lie with his head slightly elevated to make it easier to breathe, and monitor for a few weeks. If the snoring gradually decreases and your baby is still developing well, then there's no need to worry!
Friendly!
