The baby boy's health has stabilized.
On the afternoon of May 7, the National Children's Hospital provided information about the health, treatment process and support for patient MTA (4 years old, Nam Dinh ) - a case that has attracted public attention in recent days.
On May 3, baby MTA was unfortunately run over by a homemade tricycle. The child received first aid at Nam Dinh General Hospital, then transferred to the National Children's Hospital. Through examination and diagnosis, the doctor determined that the child suffered complex injuries: bilateral lung parenchyma contusions, right pleural effusion, left diaphragmatic tear causing herniation into the chest, grade 3 left kidney injury, small intestine rupture, and retroperitoneal hematoma.
The child was resuscitated, then underwent emergency surgery on the night of May 3: suturing the diaphragm, preserving the left kidney, cutting the crushed intestine, and anastomosis of the intestine end-to-end. After 5 days of treatment, the child is awake, breathing on his own, eating well, and has normal bowel circulation. The child is expected to be discharged in the next 3-5 days.
The entire treatment cost (VND 22,808,545) was covered by the Health Insurance Fund because the child under 6 years old had a valid referral. The family did not have to pay hospital fees.
Despite no appeal for support, by 11:00 a.m. on May 7, 2025, benefactors had donated a total of VND 171,200,000 to the patient's family through the hospital's Social Work Department. Of which, VND 79,200,000 was given directly and VND 92,000,000 was transferred through the hospital. The entire amount will be handed over to the family along with a list of benefactors.
