Ben Tre has the right to be the Provincial Party Secretary.

Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, holds the position of Acting Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

On December 8, Ms. Truong Thi Mai, Standing Member of the Secretariat and Head of the Central Organization Committee, presented the Politburo 's decision to Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen to hold the position of Acting Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee until the personnel are completed.

The decision was made more than two months after Ms. Yen's predecessor, Mr. Le Duc Tho, was disciplined for disciplinary violations.

Ms. Yen, 52 years old, from Son Dong commune, Ben Tre city, has a Bachelor of Economics degree. She has held the following positions: Head of Department, Deputy of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ben Tre City Party Committee; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

Previously, at the 8th Conference on October 2, the Party Central Committee decided to discipline and remove Mr. Le Duc Tho, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee, from all Party positions.

Mr. Tho was determined to have seriously violated Party regulations and State laws, regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility to set an example in declaring and making assets and income transparent; explaining the origin and fluctuations of assets dishonestly and not in accordance with regulations.
