Located in lane 29 Duong Khue (Cau Giay district), next to the campus of the University of Commerce, the E1 dormitory building of the University of Commerce is seriously degraded. According to the residents, this dormitory was built in the 60s of the last century.
According to local residents, because the new roadbed was raised to prevent flooding, they had to bend down every time they passed through the gate of the apartment complex.
Here, local authorities also put up signs warning not to park vehicles at the entrance to the apartment complex because thefts often occur.
The space inside the apartment complex is always lacking light, day and night.
Light filters into homes through window frames.
According to Dan Viet reporter's observation, people's belongings are left all over the hallway, if you are not familiar with the path, it is easy to trip and fall.
Many areas in the building pose a high risk of fire and explosion. Residents living here said that over time, cracks in the building have appeared more and more.
Due to serious degradation and potential risk of accidents, part of the stairs leading to the rooftop in the building has been blocked by residents.
The steel reinforcement of the two stairs in the house and the wall have rusted, exposing the core. Even a slight impact on the iron can cause the mortar and cement to come loose.
There are only shared bathrooms here, none are private.
The rare area with light near the stairs is used by residents to dry clothes. A representative of the People's Committee of Mai Dich Ward said that the E1 apartment building is still under the management of the University of Commerce and has not been handed over to the district and ward for management.
Meanwhile, a representative of the University of Commerce informed that the E1 dormitory was originally the school's cafeteria. The school then lent it to staff and teachers to use as temporary housing. The rooms were then converted into apartments. Up to now, only a few people who were lent accommodation by the school are still living there, the rest are mainly renting out the apartments. Also according to the representative of the University of Commerce, the school currently has no plans to renovate the dormitory due to some subjective and objective difficulties.
