108 Central Military Hospital recalls all Hofumil Gold Plus milk products

On April 17, 108 Military Central Hospital confirmed that it had recalled all Hofumil Gold Plus milk products, after the Ministry of Public Security announced the dismantling of a production and trading line of nearly 600 fake milk brands operated by Rance Pharma and Hacofood.

According to the hospital representative, they conducted a review after the information from the media was published, discovering that the product Hofumil Gold Plus belongs to the group of products provided by one of these companies. Although there is no official conclusion, the hospital has proactively stopped consulting, recalled the milk and refunded the patients.

According to an investigation by the Ministry of Public Security , the counterfeiting network operated by Rance Pharma and Hacofood has been operating for 4 years, mass-producing milk for the sick, the elderly, pregnant women and children.

Products labeled as “high-end” such as those containing cordyceps, bird’s nest, etc., but when tested, do not contain the advertised ingredients, and the nutritional content is only 50-70%. This is enough to be considered counterfeit according to the law.

Although there is no official conclusion about all the counterfeit products, the initial published list has raised a red alert for consumers, especially vulnerable groups such as infants, young children, sick people and the elderly.

According to information from the investigation agency, the four main businesses involved in this line include: Rance Pharma International Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, Hacofood Group Pharmaceutical Nutrition Joint Stock Company, Big Four Pharma International Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, and BFF Medical Nutrition Joint Stock Company. All of them have registered product declarations in Hoa Binh province and scattered in many neighboring provinces, with nearly 600 products introduced to the market in the past 4 years.

According to the list of product declaration registration certificates of the Hoa Binh Provincial Food Safety Department, in 2024 alone, 4/11 companies in the fake milk production "ecosystem" announced more than 100 products.

Accordingly, these 4 companies "share" to announce a series of formula milk and special milk products. Every month, dozens of products are "born". The common characteristics of these companies are "having branches in Hoa Binh" and "producing in Hanoi ".

In Hanoi, the Hanoi Food Safety and Hygiene Department announced the results of the review, which shocked the public. Accordingly, of nearly 600 products labeled as nutritional foods and foods for special diets produced and circulated on the market by Rance Pharma International Pharmaceutical Company and Hacofood Group Nutritional Pharmaceutical Company, only 71 products, accounting for about 12%, were granted a certificate of acceptance of product declaration registration in Hanoi.

Notably, all 71 licensed products are common nutritional foods. There are no records related to product groups specifically for special groups such as people with diabetes, people with kidney failure, pregnant women, premature or underweight babies, and groups with weak resistance, who are vulnerable to serious harm if using substandard products.

From 2021 to present, Rance Pharma International Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company has submitted 67 declaration dossiers, while Hacofood Group has only 4 dossiers.
