Commending good people and good deeds among Catholics in Thanh Hoa province, period 2020-2025

On the morning of April 10, 2025, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee coordinated with the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee to organize a patriotic emulation conference to commend good people and good deeds among Catholics (Catholics) in Thanh Hoa province for the period 2020-2025.

Attending the conference were comrades: Lai The Nguyen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Priest Tran Xuan Manh, Non-professional Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee; Pham Thi Thanh Thuy, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; comrades who are Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee; leaders of relevant departments, branches, units, organizations and 118 delegates who are typical examples, representing 160,000 Catholics in the province.

Responding to the emulation movements launched by the Central and the province; the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee has coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee and the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee to concretize into 8 contents of the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, live a good life, and follow religion" and has been widely deployed in residential areas.

That has received positive responses from all walks of life, bringing about positive results, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of the people, maintaining security and order, especially creating a relationship of solidarity and attachment between Catholics and non-Catholics in residential areas throughout the province.

Many residential areas of the Buddhist Sangha have become outstanding examples in the movement of economic development, poverty reduction, security and order protection, social safety, promoting education, taking care of education and community health care, gratitude, humanity, charity, and building cultural life in residential areas. Many priests, monks, and officials are shining examples in production labor, building parishes, religious communities, and beautiful residential areas...

In the movement to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas; DBCG together with the local people voluntarily contributed more than 640 billion VND, donated nearly 1.5 million ^m2 of land, relocated and demolished more than 650 residential houses, more than 2,400 fences, gates, yards, more than 590,000 working days to repair and renovate many village cultural houses, expand and modernize the rural traffic system, contributing to bringing the number of districts meeting standards and completing the construction of new rural areas in the whole province to 14 units; the number of communes, villages and hamlets meeting new rural standards to 388 communes, 816 villages and hamlets.

In building a cultural life, every year 87.6% of households register to strive to achieve the title of cultural family; over 100 thousand families are recognized as "Exemplary grandparents and parents, filial children and grandchildren". Reforming, educating, and helping hundreds of people who have made mistakes, the number of successful mediation cases reached 84.7% of cases; contributing to resolving small conflicts at the grassroots level, uniting people in residential areas.

With the spirit of "love and service"; in recent years, the DBCG together with all classes of people in the province have responded to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind" more and more effectively. In the period of 2020-2025, 4,987 Great Solidarity houses were renovated and repaired; gifts were given to poor students who have overcome difficulties, those in especially difficult circumstances and social security activities worth over 1,500 billion VND... The charity, philanthropy and social security activities of the DBCG have contributed to reducing the poverty rate in the province in 2024 to 2.12%.

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Comrade Lai The Nguyen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements in the patriotic emulation movement of the provincial Party Committee, and warmly commended 118 outstanding individuals honored and rewarded at this conference.

Promoting the tradition of solidarity and patriotism of the nation and the achievements in the past time; he highly agreed with the orientations and tasks stated in the summary report, and at the same time emphasized some orientational contents in the coming time:

Firstly, Party committees and authorities at all levels in the province need to strengthen leadership and direction in doing well the propaganda work, raising awareness of the position and role of religious work in the new situation; mobilizing, uniting, and gathering religious organizations, dignitaries, and religious followers to live "good lives, good religions"; actively contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and building a strong foundation. Continue to lead, direct, and coordinate to create favorable conditions for the Fatherland Front and its member organizations, including the Catholic Solidarity Committee at all levels, to excellently fulfill their assigned tasks.

Second, all levels, sectors, the Fatherland Front, and organizations continue to pay attention to creating favorable conditions to support socio-economic development, improve the lives of people in religious areas, including the Catholic community; regularly listen to and coordinate to resolve recommendations and legitimate and legal issues that dignitaries, officials, monks, nuns, Catholic followers, and lay people are concerned about; create favorable conditions for priests and lay people to practice religion, contributing to building an increasingly strong national solidarity bloc.

Third, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations continue to widely implement emulation movements and campaigns, especially the Campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, live a good life - beautiful religion" in the Catholic Church; maintain well the models of "Peaceful parishes, exemplary Catholic families". Promoting the tradition of charity, actively participating in humanitarian and charitable activities, helping the poor, people in difficult circumstances, people affected by natural disasters, epidemics... In particular, focusing on mobilizing all resources to carry out the emulation movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide", determined to completely eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in October 2025. Step up propaganda and mobilization of the Party Central Committee to promote the tradition of solidarity, the will of self-reliance, and make efforts together with the Party Committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and organizations to successfully implement the goals and tasks of socio-economic development, ensure security and order, and improve people's lives.

Fourthly, it is recommended that the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee and the Catholic Solidarity Committees of districts, towns and cities continue to innovate methods, improve operational efficiency, play a good role as a bridge to gather, unite and encourage Catholics in the province to promote good values, uphold the spirit of civic responsibility, actively participate in patriotic emulation movements and campaigns, strive to have more and more dignitaries, officials, monks and nuns, and lay people who are advanced examples in socio-economic development, building cultural life, maintaining security and order, protecting the environment, and actively contributing to building an increasingly prosperous homeland and country.

He also requested that the priests, monks, and lay people honored at this conference promote the results they have achieved, better fulfill their role as a bridge between religion and life, and encourage the lay community to fulfill their duties as lay people according to religious standards. Strengthen propaganda, mobilization, and guidance for the Catholic community to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, the provisions of the Law on Religious Beliefs and related regulations; mobilize all classes of people to live and work according to the law; implement the direction of "Living the gospel in the heart of the nation to serve the happiness of compatriots" in the spirit of the 1980 Joint Letter of the Vietnam Bishops' Council.

On this occasion, 118 outstanding Catholics were honored to receive Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Certificates of Merit from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, and Certificates of Merit from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee for their outstanding achievements in participating in patriotic emulation movements, living a good life, and following religion in the period of 2020-2025.
