Binh Duong: A school organized the semester exam on the wrong day, the whole province had to retake the exam.

Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters, the leader of the Binh Duong Department of Education and Training said that on April 25, Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School (a non-public school in Di An City) after receiving the math test for the end of the second semester at the Department of Education and Training of Di An City, organized for 9th grade students to take the test one day earlier than scheduled.

Then, on April 26, secondary schools across Binh Duong province held their second semester exams and some exam supervisors discovered that on the evening of April 25, some students had called to ask about the answers to the algebra section.

After organizing the exam on the wrong day, Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School has issued an explanation report.

The incident was reported and immediately after that, the Binh Duong Department of Education and Training investigated and discovered that Phan Chu Trinh Primary, Secondary and High School (Di An City) organized the exam one day earlier than scheduled, resulting in about 10,000 9th grade students across the province having to retake the math exam.

Many parents told Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters that re-organizing the exam was unnecessary, wasting money and putting pressure on students before the 10th grade entrance exam just because a school was irresponsible in organizing the second semester exam.

In response to parents' reactions, the leader of the Binh Duong Department of Education and Training explained that although the extent of the leak of exam questions at Phan Chu Trinh Primary, Secondary and High School has not been determined, to ensure fairness for all students, the exam must be re-organized, scheduled for May 8.

Regarding the issue of responsibility and the wasteful re-examination, the leader of the Binh Duong Department of Education and Training said that they will review responsibility and handle it strictly.

According to the explanatory report of Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School, the wrong exam date originated from the administrative department when planning the second semester exam for grades 9 and 12 from April 24 to 28. "Because the exam schedule for grade 9 overlaps with that for grade 12 according to Official Dispatch 648 in two subjects: literature and English, after planning for grade 12, the administrative department copied the exam schedule for grade 12: literature (April 24), math (April 25), English (April 28) to the exam schedule for grade 9," the explanatory report stated.

The Board of Directors of Phan Chu Trinh Primary, Secondary and High School has taken full responsibility for organizing the second semester math exam on the wrong day.
