Historical events

Following the birth of the People's Armed Police force, 50 years ago, with the approval of the Zone VI Party Committee, on May 6, 1975, the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee issued a Decision to establish the Provincial People's Armed Police Party Committee - the predecessor of the Provincial Border Guard Command today. This is an event of important historical significance, marking the maturity of the force tasked with protecting the sea and island borders in Binh Thuan in the new period after liberation.

On September 8, 1995, the Central Party Secretariat issued Directive No. 58 on organizing the implementation of Resolution No. 11 of the Politburo on building the Border Guard in the new situation. The Prime Minister also issued Decision No. 754 transferring the Border Guard from the Ministry of the Interior to the Ministry of National Defense . From here, the Border Guard entered a new phase "A revolutionary armed force of the Party and the State, a component of the Vietnam People's Army, acting as the core in charge of managing and protecting the sovereignty and security of the national border". On January 1, 1996, the Provincial Border Guard Command changed its name to the Provincial Border Guard Command until now.

Over the past 5 decades, the provincial Border Guard force has continuously grown and matured in all aspects, always fulfilling its assigned political tasks well. During the renovation period, facing the increasingly high requirements for the task of managing and protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security, the provincial Border Guard has proactively innovated synchronously in terms of organization, operations, and force arrangement in line with the practical situation. Under the leadership and close direction of the Border Guard Command, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, the provincial Border Guard has seriously and effectively implemented the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and laws on national border protection. The focus is on the National Border Law, Resolution 33 of the Politburo on "National Border Protection Strategy" and the Vietnam Border Law.

On the front of the struggle to protect security and order, and prevent crimes in the coastal border area, the provincial Border Guard has achieved many outstanding achievements. With the spirit of determination, perseverance, flexibility, and creativity, the units have improved their forecasting capacity, combat readiness, professional qualifications, and strong political will. Over the past years, the provincial Border Guard has taken the lead in detecting, arresting, and prosecuting 724 cases/831 subjects of illegal possession and trafficking of narcotics, seizing more than 21kg of synthetic drugs, more than 50 grams of heroin, and more than 21 grams of dried marijuana.

At the same time, 6 drug cases were successfully dismantled, 1 case/1 subject was prosecuted for manufacturing and storing military weapons. In particular, Binh Thuan Border Guard coordinated with the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention, the Central Task Force and other provinces, and the Provincial Police to successfully combat the A723p case, seizing 5 guns, 284 bullets, and many tools and components for manufacturing guns. In addition, the Provincial Border Guard also detected and handled nearly 1,000 violations in the fields of fisheries, security, order, and social safety.

Stand with the people

In the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, officers and soldiers of the provincial Border Guard have promoted a high sense of responsibility and are ready to take on tasks at border hotspots and in the province. More than 200 officers and soldiers volunteered to join the Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard to perform border checkpoints and hundreds of others participated in preventing and fighting the epidemic locally. The provincial Border Guard also coordinated to establish Covid-19 treatment facility No. 4 at La Gi Regional General Hospital with a scale of 200 beds. A 75-bed isolation facility was established, and the task of caring for and treating Covid-19 patients was well performed. These actions have contributed to maintaining a safe area, and have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party Committee, government and people.

With the motto "The station is home, the border is the homeland, the people of all ethnic groups are blood brothers", officers and soldiers of the provincial Border Guard always accompany and stand side by side with the people through every storm, flood, and difficulty of daily life. Implementing the policy of "eating, living, working, and speaking the ethnic language together", the image of "Teacher in green uniform" and "Doctor in green uniform" has spread deeply in the community. The program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of the Border Guard Station" has supported hundreds of poor and studious students, giving them more motivation to overcome difficulties and continue to go to school. Activities of gratitude, social security support, and poverty reduction are also maintained regularly. With great contributions to the cause of protecting the Fatherland, the provincial Border Guard force has been honored to be awarded the Second Class Military Exploit Medal, the Third Class Military Exploit Medal, and many other noble certificates of merit and awards by the State.

The Provincial Border Guard Command said that over the past 50 years, under the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, directly the Border Guard Command, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, generations of officers and soldiers of the Provincial Border Guard have inherited and promoted the good nature and glorious traditions of the Party, the nation and the heroic Vietnam People's Army, building the fine traditions of the Provincial Border Guard. The most typical and above all, is absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, overcoming all difficulties and hardships, determined to manage and firmly protect the territorial sovereignty and national border security in all situations.

Along with that is the spirit of vigilance, intelligence, bravery in attacking the enemy and criminals, proactive creativity in work, agile flexibility in fighting, excellently completing assigned tasks. Closely attached to the people, closely united and coordinated with all levels, sectors, forces, and localities in the border areas, promoting the combined strength in building, managing and protecting the national border.
