Le Tuan Trung is an excellent K53 alumnus of the advanced Business Administration program at Foreign Trade University (FTU). He has just marked an impressive milestone in his academic journey when he graduated with a master's degree from the prestigious Harvard University.
From passion for art to business administration
Before becoming a talented economics student, Le Tuan Trung was a student passionate about the piano at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. Trung's childhood dream was to become an artist, living with the piano keys and melodies. But then, curiosity and a desire for challenges led the young man to an unexpected turn.

“During my studies and interactions with teachers and alumni, I gradually felt that the new business environment is a more suitable place, dynamic, practical and full of challenges,” Trung shared about the reason for choosing business administration at FTU when entering university.
With a study program entirely in English, the first days at FTU were a big challenge for Tuan Trung.
"My English at that time was very limited, my speaking was still faltering, my writing was incomplete. However, thanks to my own perseverance and the support from my friends, I gradually kept up with the lectures, became more confident in communication and improved my learning ability little by little," said Tuan Trung.
Conquering Harvard and the journey of "self-awareness"
After graduating from FTU, in the working environment, Tuan Trung had the opportunity to connect and chat with some colleagues who studied at Harvard Business School (HBS). Through in-depth discussions and learning more from alumni as well as online information sources, Trung gradually became interested in HBS's unique educational method: emphasizing practice, dialogue and critical thinking.
"HBS's case method constantly puts students in real-life situations, forcing me to make decisions when information is lacking and certainty is very low," Trung explained.
In particular, HBS also creates an environment for students to have a journey of self-discovery, starting right away with the question: "What do you want to do with your free and precious life?".

The Harvard application process was described by Tuan Trung as a "difficult internal dialogue."
The most memorable moment during the application process was an evening when Trung confided in his mother about his childhood. According to Trung, to reach the prestigious Harvard threshold, in addition to outstanding achievements, candidates must show “their true story and self”. This is something Trung encountered many difficulties because of his shy nature in talking about personal feelings and dreams.
It was the moment of daring to open up and share honestly with his mother that helped Trung connect the dots, touch his deepest emotions and thoughts, and from there be able to tell the story of his journey to pursue financial inclusion through education and financial technology in the most authentic and emotional way.
For Le Tuan Trung, the journey to conquer a Business Administration degree at Harvard is not only about acquiring knowledge but also a "transformation" in perception and courage to face oneself.
'Harvard Mark': Pressure not from outside but from within
Getting into Harvard was unexpectedly good news for Trung's family, but besides the pride, the pressure from the "Harvard label" was inevitable.

"The real pressure comes from myself. When I first entered the school, I thought: I have received a lot of support, I am lucky to study here, so when I graduate, I must do something worthy, have a good job, really impressive, so as not to be inferior to anyone. But Harvard is just a new beginning. Not a destination but another starting point where I have the opportunity to look back at myself, redefine my path and most importantly, learn how to live more true to myself," Tuan Trung contemplated.
The diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and nationalities of Harvard students creates an invaluable network. Trung shared that the relationships built at Harvard are not only about exchanging knowledge but also about accompanying, supporting, and learning from each other on the path of career and life.
Boston Consulting Group (BCG) CEO Jungkiu Choi - who has worked directly with Tuan Trung commented: "With his excellent problem-solving ability, his ability to connect the pieces to see things holistically, and his commitment to developing people, he will certainly become a respected and influential leader."
Sharing with VietNamNet , Le Tuan Trung said he is working in Singapore as an investor at a global fund, focusing on potential businesses in Southeast Asia in the fields of healthcare, education, finance and technology, including the Vietnamese market.
“I want to accompany businesses that are trying to solve social problems in Vietnam, from supporting them in raising capital, developing strategies to operating and expanding their scale. For me, that is the most practical way to contribute to improving the quality of life for the community, especially disadvantaged groups. I believe that business models that create social impact are the long-term foundation for sustainable development,” Le Tuan Trung shared.
