In early June, the Prime Minister approved the detailed planning of the Ba Dinh Square expansion project. Accordingly, the land for the detailed planning of the project area is located in the Ba Dinh political center, in Dien Bien ward, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi city.
The North borders the grassy area of Ba Dinh Square, the South borders Chua Mot Cot Street, the East borders Doc Lap Street, and the West borders Hung Vuong Street.
The total area of the planned land is about 7,191m2.

The organization of the open space of Ba Dinh Square includes 28 grass plots combined with a system of gravel concrete walkways to ensure synchronous connection with the existing grass carpet and grass plot system of Ba Dinh Square. Return the area of Hung Vuong Street for renovation and construction in accordance with the approved planning orientation and construction boundaries and red line boundaries.
The organization of space, architecture, and landscape of the planning area must ensure compliance with the control criteria specified in the detailed planning adjustment project of the Ba Dinh Political Center Area, scale 1/2,000. In addition, it must not affect the architectural space of the adjacent area and must ensure the requirements of traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation, etc.
Arrange trees and open spaces connecting surrounding areas to create connections and continuity between areas; ensure standards on size and types of urban trees in accordance with current regulations.
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ba Dinh Square are large cultural and artistic works, associated with important historical events of the country and people of Vietnam, and are sacred spaces of the capital Hanoi and the whole country.
Ba Dinh Square Lawn is one of the particularly important spaces in the Ba Dinh Mausoleum and Square complex, regularly maintained and restored by the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board.
Currently, the overall planning of Ba Dinh Square's lawn is being overlapped by the southern villa area. This cluster of buildings blocks the view from Chua Mot Cot Street towards Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the National Assembly, greatly affecting the landscape and architectural space of the historic Ba Dinh Square area, affecting the solemnity and architectural value of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
The auxiliary spaces around the square need to be studied, renovated and upgraded to become resting places when participating in visiting activities or cultural and political events here... including the garden and green area at the southern end of Doc Lap Street.
The investment in building infrastructure to serve the reception and propaganda work of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board is extremely necessary and urgent and in line with the planning of the Ba Dinh Political Center.
In mid-June, in an official dispatch directing ministries, branches and localities to organize activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh assigned Hanoi City to preside over site clearance, renovation and expansion of Ba Dinh Square to organize military parades and marches. |
