Provide 3,600 missing textbooks for students
According to Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Nguyen Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, storm No. 11 and the floods following the storm have caused serious damage to the province's education sector.
The whole province has 180 educational establishments affected; 2 officials and teachers unfortunately died while on duty; more than 11,600 sets of textbooks, more than 55,000 notebooks and more than 5,000 sets of school supplies were damaged. Many families of officials, teachers, staff and students were flooded, causing heavy property damage. The total value of the converted damage is estimated at nearly 182 billion VND.

Immediately after the flood receded, 100% of students in the area returned to school as usual. Up to now, about 250 groups have come to support the Education sector with 400 tons of relief goods, the total value in cash and in kind is estimated at about 40 billion VND. Books and teaching equipment alone have received over 8,000 sets of textbooks, more than 20,000 notebooks (worth about 3 billion VND) and teaching equipment worth more than 3.5 billion VND.
Minister Nguyen Kim Son acknowledged and highly appreciated the spirit of overcoming difficulties of teachers and students of Thai Nguyen.
The Minister directed the Ministry's functional units to coordinate with publishers to provide 3,600 sets of missing textbooks early next week. At the same time, the Minister emphasized the need for thorough disinfection, ensuring hygiene, electrical safety, and school health , especially in dormitories and kitchens; urgently review and make a list of repairs and replacements of damaged equipment to propose budget support, at the same time, take advantage of socialized resources and propose to the Central Government for support according to regulations on natural disaster prevention and control.

The Minister noted that in the coming time, Thai Nguyen province and the education sector need to prepare documents and investment portfolios to take advantage of capital from the National Target Program on modernization and improvement of education and training quality in the 2026-2035 period, in which priority is given to investment in educational facilities in riverside areas, streams, and low-lying areas.

Also in Thai Nguyen, Minister Nguyen Kim Son visited and presented gifts at Huong Thuong Kindergarten and Thai Nguyen High School for the Gifted.
Here, the head of the education sector expressed his deep sympathy to the staff, teachers, students and families affected by the storm and flood. The Minister asked the local authorities to continue to pay attention and support essential equipment, and at the same time direct the review and development of plans to prevent and combat natural disasters and ensure school safety during the rainy and stormy season.
Promote digitalization of records and documents
Visiting and presenting gifts to Thai Nguyen University of Education, Minister Nguyen Kim Son requested to ensure absolute safety of electricity, water, and infrastructure in areas that were deeply flooded; mobilize students to participate in cleaning up the environment with safety instructions, considering it a civic education activity, contributing to raising community awareness.
He also suggested that Thai Nguyen University of Education promote the digitization of records, management, research and training documents; not leave important documents on low levels, and proactively back up data periodically.
In addition, it is necessary to review and rearrange the laboratory system, prioritizing key, shared, and highly efficient laboratories, avoiding dispersion. At the same time, the school needs to prepare an investment portfolio to take advantage of target programs, cooperation projects, and socialized resources to improve the quality of facilities.
