Vietnamese and Lao Ministers of Industry and Trade inspect the largest automobile factory in Quang Ninh

On November 7, within the framework of the 13th Vietnam - Laos Border Trade Development Cooperation Conference held in Quang Ninh, Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and Lao Minister of Industry and Trade Malaythong Kommasith and the working delegations of the two countries' Ministries of Industry and Trade visited and worked at Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Manufacturing Factory, Quang Ninh province.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized that the formation and development of large-scale industrial projects such as the automobile manufacturing complex in Quang Ninh has demonstrated Vietnam's consistent orientation in promoting the manufacturing industry, improving national production capacity, and participating more deeply in the global value chain.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to accompany businesses nationwide, creating favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, policies and investment environment, to promote production and trade.

Lao Minister of Industry and Trade Malaythong Kommasith highly appreciated the scale, technology and development orientation of the investor and expressed his impression of Vietnam's automobile industry development strategy, especially the modern approach, linking production with technology transfer and developing a supporting industrial ecosystem.

The Lao Minister of Industry and Trade hopes that in the coming time, the two Ministries and the business communities of the two countries will increase information exchange, share experiences, learn and promote new cooperation models in the fields of manufacturing industry, energy, border trade and logistics. Thereby, contributing to realizing the goal of improving the effectiveness of bilateral economic cooperation, building regional supply chains, strengthening connectivity, towards sustainable development, stability and common prosperity between Vietnam and Laos.

In recent years, the economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Laos has been increasingly flourishing and growing strongly. With the development potential and available advantages, in recent years, the Governments of the two countries have always set the target of Vietnam - Laos trade turnover not only growing at a rate of 10-15%/year but also aiming for stable and sustainable development.

On the same afternoon, the 13th Vietnam - Laos Border Trade Development Cooperation Conference took place in Quang Ninh. The conference aimed to review the provisions, promptly listen to and answer questions and difficulties, and facilitate the development of border trade between the two countries to a new level.

Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory was put into operation in April this year. The factory was invested and built on an area of 36.5 hectares; capacity of 120,000 vehicles/year; designed to be a place to produce and assemble Skoda brand cars under the investment cooperation program of the leading Czech automobile company with Thanh Cong Group. Up to now, the factory has launched 2 Skoda car models to the market.
