(MPI) - At the Conference to announce the Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, and to promote investment in agriculture, trade, and tourism in Vinh Long province, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, member of the Party Central Committee, presented the Decision approving the planning to the leaders of Vinh Long province.

The conference took place on March 23, 2024 to maximize potential and advantages, striving to develop Vinh Long province into a comprehensively developed, civilized, modern, ecological, sustainable province with a fairly high level of development compared to the whole country, with people increasingly prosperous and happy. Attending the conference were Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; leaders and former leaders of ministries, branches, central agencies, domestic and foreign experts and investors. On the side of Vinh Long province, there were Mr. Bui Van Nghiem, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Lu Quang Ngoi, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

The Prime Minister has issued Decision No. 1579/QD-TTg approving the Planning of Vinh Long province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, which sets the goal that by 2030, Vinh Long will be a high-tech, ecological agricultural province; one of the agricultural economic centers of the Mekong Delta; with a synchronous, modern infrastructure system connecting smoothly with localities in the Mekong Delta.

Vision to 2050, Vinh Long will be a province with comprehensive, civilized, modern, ecological, sustainable development, with a fairly high level of development compared to the whole country; with a synchronous, modern and climate change-adaptive socio-economic infrastructure system; historical relics and cultural identities are preserved, embellished and promoted; national defense and security are ensured; people have a prosperous and happy life.

Vinh Long province's planning identifies: One development driving force axis (National Highway 1 passing through Vinh Long city - Long Ho district - Binh Minh town); two economic corridors (along Hau river, Tien river and Co Chien river); three development breakthroughs (infrastructure, key sectors, human resources); four growth pillars (industry, agriculture - fisheries, services, urban areas); five key tasks (mechanisms, policies; administrative reform, improving the investment and business environment; innovating the growth model; promoting the application of science and technology; promoting startups, enhancing the competitiveness of the private economy)...

Speaking at the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the organization of the Conference in the "two-in-one" format, combining the Conference to announce the Provincial Planning and the Investment Promotion Conference; highly appreciated the determination, efforts and achievements of Vinh Long province over many periods, creating an important foundation for development in the new period.

At the same time, the assessment of the Vinh Long Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, was carefully, systematically and scientifically prepared; built on the basis of promoting potentials and advantages, as well as overcoming shortcomings and limitations. The planning has provided viewpoints, visions, key development goals, development breakthroughs; development plans, solutions, resources for implementing the planning and tasks for implementation in the coming time.

The Prime Minister emphasized the potentials, advantages, shortcomings, limitations and specific tasks that need to be focused on in the coming time, including urgently issuing plans and implementing the Provincial Planning; ensuring compliance and synchronization in organizing the implementation of the planning; in accordance with the national master plan, regional planning, and sectoral planning; with a long-term vision associated with the overall development orientation, regional linkage, promoting potentials and advantages, strongly developing the socio-economy, protecting the environment and adapting to climate change.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that investors will choose investment sectors that are suitable to the province's unique potential, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages; build a long-term and sustainable business strategy; properly implement investment commitments and cooperation agreements; and follow the correct orientation and priorities according to the provincial planning. Relevant ministries and branches will effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister; create a favorable investment and business environment; promptly and effectively resolve recommendations and proposals from the province, people, and businesses; promptly complete related legal regulations and policies. Closely coordinate with Vinh Long to assess the current situation and have solutions to improve the investment environment, creating favorable conditions to reduce costs for businesses and investors.

On this occasion, representatives of Vinh Long province's leaders presented investment policy decisions, investment registration certificates, memorandums of understanding, and cooperation agreements to representatives of businesses and investors.

Within the framework of the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and delegates visited the Provincial Planning exhibition space, the display booth, introducing typical products, OCOP products, and introducing outstanding tourist destinations of the province to create conditions for businesses and investors to connect, trade, meet and seek opportunities for cooperation and development./.
