Minister of Health: Cancer cure rate at K Hospital is on par with other countries

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of May 28, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan handed over the Decision to reappoint the Director of K Hospital. Accordingly, Prof. Dr. Le Van Quang continued to be appointed Director of the Hospital.

At the ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan assessed that in recent years, K Hospital has made remarkable and comprehensive progress. Currently, the rate of curing some cancers at K Hospital is on par with advanced countries in the world.

According to the leaders of K Hospital, in recent years, many modern devices have been installed in diagnosis and treatment. The hospital has put into use 1 radiotherapy machine and will soon be equipped with 3 more radiotherapy machines.

In addition, the hospital focuses on applying and implementing scientific and technological advances, developing high technology, creating key strengths such as minimally invasive interventions, notably 3D endoscopic surgery, Robot...

In internal medicine, the hospital always updates new treatment regimens, focusing on individualization, treatment according to tumor biological characteristics at the molecular level using targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

In particular, the direction of the lower level was promoted. K Hospital transferred many techniques to lower level facilities, built a cancer prevention network in 3 regions (including 11 specialized hospitals, 72 centers, departments, and oncology units, of which 43 units in 23 provinces and cities were directly directed).

Thanks to this, many local treatment facilities have now met most of the demand for cancer examination and treatment and the rate of referral has decreased significantly.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan highly appreciated the capacity and sense of responsibility of Professor, Dr. Le Van Quang in his position as Director of K Hospital in the past time.

The Minister emphasized that K Hospital needs to synchronously implement measures to further improve the quality and effectiveness of medical examination and treatment with the motto of taking the patient as the center, taking treatment effectiveness and patient satisfaction as the measure of value and the goal to strive for.

In addition, it is necessary to promote propaganda for people about cancer prevention knowledge, especially calling on people to continue to proactively and actively participate in health insurance to move towards universal health insurance.

K Hospital also needs to strengthen the implementation of training and technology transfer in service packages as well as continue to maintain and support transferred techniques, promote scientific research and technology development programs, and international cooperation in the field.

Hospitals need to continue to promote administrative reform, further innovate service attitudes towards patient satisfaction, be more proactive in management, and be more rigorous in organization to improve hospital quality, aiming for international standards such as ISO, JCI or OECI, and promote digital transformation in both management and expertise.
