The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposes to handle the act of exploiting festival and religious relics for personal gain.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) Nguyen Van Hung signed Official Dispatch No. 5833/BVHTTDL-VP to the People's Committees of provinces and cities on strengthening the management and organization of CST activities and festivals to celebrate the Spring of Giap Thin 2024.

The leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the cultural management departments to organize cultural and artistic programs to celebrate the Party and the spring, and create many useful playgrounds in entertainment areas and community activity centers to serve the people in a joyful, healthy, safe and economical spirit.

Localities strengthen the implementation of state management measures for karaoke and discotheque business activities, closely coordinate with functional sectors in managing business activities of cultural products and services, focus on new tasks decentralized and authorized to localities such as approving the organization of art performances, competitions, festivals of performing arts, beauty contests, model contests, fine arts exhibitions, photography...

Regarding festival management and organization, Minister Nguyen Van Hung requested departments to advise and perform well the management and organization of festivals according to regulations, ensuring that festival activities, spring celebrations, traditional anniversaries... are practical, safe, economical, in accordance with civilized lifestyle, cultural traditions of the nation and good customs and practices of each locality.

Localities need to propagate and mobilize to raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, people and tourists to seriously implement state regulations on festival organization, the origin of festivals, relics and characters worshiped and honored, the values and true meanings of traditional beliefs and rituals, limit the burning of votive paper, ensure safety, save money and protect the environment.

“Strengthen inspection, examination and supervision before, during and after the festival, promptly prevent and strictly handle violations in festival activities, especially acts of taking advantage of relics, festivals and beliefs for personal gain, superstitious activities, gambling, and widespread festival organization causing waste and expense,” the leader of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized.

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested departments to organize diverse tourism activities and develop new tourism products to serve people during the 2024 Lunar New Year. Departments directed accommodation establishments and tourism service businesses to implement measures to ensure the safety of tourists and promptly prevent negative manifestations, price increases, price gouging, etc.
