On April 18, the Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health informed about the analysis results of the National Institute of Forensic Medicine on the product Detox Apple to support weight loss containing Sibutramine - a substance banned from use in health protection foods.
The Food Safety Department recommends that consumers do not buy and use the above products. If the products are found circulating on the market, people are requested to immediately notify the authorities for handling according to the provisions of law.
The Food Safety Department also confirmed that it has never issued a Certificate of Product Declaration Registration for the product Detox Tao.

Previously, the Poison Control Center (Bach Mai Hospital) received a patient who was poisoned due to using a body Detox product containing the banned substance Sibutramine.
A 26-year-old woman with a history of idiopathic thrombocytopenia for 11 years, treated at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion for 2 years.
Because she wanted to lose weight, she bought a product called Detox Apple to use. In 1 bottle of the product there are 2 types of yellow and green pills. She took the product for 10 days and experienced pain in her ligaments. After 2 weeks of use, her eyes suddenly lost vision.
On March 28, she experienced two episodes of decreased vision and was transferred to the Neurology Center of Bach Mai Hospital for treatment. There, the results of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan showed lesions in the corpus callosum, and she was monitored for poisoning.
Testing of the Apple Detox product found it contained the banned substance Sibutramine. She was then transferred to the hospital's Poison Control Center for further treatment.
