The Vietnamese team will meet their fateful opponent Indonesia again in the group stage of the AFF Cup 2024.
On the afternoon of May 21, the draw ceremony for the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric 2024 (formerly the AFF Cup) took place.

According to the draw results, the Vietnam team is in group B with Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar and Laos.
This is considered a very difficult group when the opponents of the red team have all been getting stronger recently.
In which, Indonesia has won against Vietnam in the last 3 meetings.
But with their current strength, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team are completely capable of passing the group stage.
In Group A, Thailand will face Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and the winner of the play-off between Brunei and Timor Leste.
Teams in the same group will compete in a round robin format with two home matches and two away matches.
The top two teams in each group will compete in the semi-finals, with the two winners advancing to the final. The semi-finals and finals will both be played on home and away grounds.
The 2024 ASEAN Cup will take place from November 23 to December 21. In the most recent tournament, the Vietnamese team finished second overall.
