The biggest highlight of the Brabus 800 Cabrio and 800 XL Cabrio duo is the complex soft top, which includes more than 500 individually crafted parts. The roof system is capable of opening and closing fully automatically in about 20 seconds and comes with a heated rear window. To ensure stability at high speeds, Brabus has reinforced the windshield frame and added a carbon fiber bar to prevent the roof from deforming. The car is also equipped with a rear anti-roll bar and a roof cover to protect the fabric structure when open for long periods of time.
In terms of design, the Brabus 800 Cabrio has a refined rear end and a distinctive Widestar bodykit. The 24-inch Monoblock ZM wheels combined with high-performance Hankook tires give the car a more powerful appearance, while the sports suspension helps lower the car by 20 to 40 mm compared to the standard G63. The car's interior is fully customized with premium leather, carbon details, new gearshift paddles and an Airscarf neck-warming system. Power for both models comes from a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine, tuned by Brabus to produce 789 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted through a 9-speed automatic transmission combined with four-wheel drive.
With this configuration, the Mercedes-AMG G63 800 Cabrio version from Brbus can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h. Meanwhile, the 800 XL Cabrio focuses on off-road capability with a dedicated portal axle suspension system, providing up to 480 mm of ground clearance. The 800 XL Cabrio features smaller 22-inch wheels with all-terrain tires for improved off-road capability. This configuration results in a slight performance loss, with 0–100 km/h acceleration taking 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.
Brabus says each version will be limited to just 50 units. The 800 Cabrio starts at $877,350, while the 800 XL Cabrio starts at $1 million, a figure that can vary depending on customer options. With limited quantity and extremely high level of customization, Brabus' G-Class Cabrio duo is considered the most "unique" and classy convertible SUV models that car enthusiasts can own today.
