Brad Pitt doesn't want to risk his life acting like Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise, famous for doing his own stunts in the Mission: Impossible series, urged fans to watch the motorsport film F1 , in which Pitt plays a former Formula 1 driver.

"He's so sweet," Pitt told E! News of the Top Gun blockbuster star.

"We had go-kart days in the early 1990s," Pitt said. When asked who was the faster driver, Pitt said: "He beat me in the end. I have to admit that."

In April, Cruise spoke about Pitt and the F1 movie during a presentation at CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas: "Brad has a new movie, with Jerry Bruckheimer and Joe Kosinski."

"It was great to see Brad driving. He's a great driver. Trust me, I've raced Brad. When we did Interview With the Vampire , we raced go-karts so we know," Cruise recalled.

Bruckheimer and Kosinski have worked with Brad Pitt on F1 and Tom Cruise on 2022's Top Gun: Maverick. In a recent interview with GQ magazine , Kosinski spoke about the differences between working with Pitt and Cruise.

"Tom always pushes the limits, but at the same time he's very capable and extremely skillful. They both have natural talent for driving. But I think Tom can scare us a little bit more," Kosinski said.

F1 stunt supervisor Graham Kelly added: "We had a crash because Tom was pushing it to the limit. That scared me. I've done a lot of Mission: Impossible with Tom and it was the most nerve-wracking experience for someone like me, building cars for him, doing stunts with him. Brad listens and knows his stuff. I think Brad would be the first to say, 'Okay, I'm not going to do that'."

Kosinski also revealed that Pitt and Cruise were planning to reunite for Ford v Ferrari , which he directed, but the studio didn't approve due to its high budget. James Mangold directed the 2019 sports film starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon.
