Bui Tien Dung and Ho Tan Tai are two new players called up to the list of the Vietnamese national team preparing for the 2023 Asian Cup finals. After joining the team, the duo of defenders were medically examined by doctors.
As a result, Bui Tien Dung had health problems, leading to not having enough physical strength to practice and compete. In the context that the Vietnamese team only has 4 days left to go to Qatar for training before the 2023 Asian Cup, coach Philippe Troussier decided to send Bui Tien Dung back to the club to rest and recover.

Bui Tien Dung is one of the pillars of the Vietnamese team under coach Park Hang Seo, but is not used when coach Philippe Troussier is in the captain's chair.
In the context of many players having to say goodbye to the national team, it was thought that the center back of The Cong Viettel Club would be given a chance, but he had to say goodbye very regrettably.
Thus, Bui Tien Dung is the 6th case to say goodbye to the national team. Previously, players Van Toan, Thanh Chung, Duc Chien, Thanh Nhan and Dang Van Lam had to return to their clubs due to injury problems.
On the evening of December 31, the Vietnamese team had its first training session at the VFF Youth Football Training Center. Quang Hai did not appear in this training session due to his busy engagement ceremony on January 1, 2024.
On January 5, the Vietnamese team left for Qatar to train before the 2023 Asian Cup finals. Before the opening match against Japan, Quang Hai and his teammates had a friendly match as a "rehearsal" with the Kyrgyzstan team on January 9.
