Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan emphasized: Completing the temporary housing elimination program, Ca Mau continues to open a new door, which is to implement the Livelihood Support Project.

With the strong direction of the Provincial Steering Committee, the participation of the entire political system and all the people, after nearly 9 months of implementation, the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province has achieved remarkable results. The whole province has started and completed 4,400/4,400 houses (3,463 new houses, 937 houses repaired), reaching 100% of the planned target. The completion time is nearly 3 months earlier than the original plan.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, reported on the preparation for handing over houses in Ta An Khuong Dong commune, Dam Doi district, before holding the summary conference.

The province satisfactorily resolved the difficult cases of land for housing and house construction for 272/272 households. In addition to the funding source of 60 million VND/new house, 30 million VND/repaired house, the province directed localities to review the total of 4,400 houses supported by the project, there were 3,124 houses that did not have sanitary toilets, so the province and localities mobilized social resources to support an additional 5 million VND/house.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quan, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, presented the progress of preparing the main contents of the summary conference program.

Most localities have been proactive, mobilizing resources and mobilizing socialization to support additional funding for house construction. Typically, Ngoc Hien district has provided additional support for meritorious people with 40 million VND/household for new construction and 20 million VND/household for repair; Ca Mau city has provided additional support of 10 million VND/household for new construction and 5 million VND/household for repair for poor and near-poor households. In addition, after completing the temporary housing elimination program in the area, Ca Mau city has directly supported the remaining 8 districts, each district with 1 new house, worth 60 million VND/household, with a total support cost of 480 million VND.

The issue of livelihood for households in difficult circumstances after receiving housing support has also received special attention from the Provincial Standing Committee, directing the development of a project to support livelihoods for households with revolutionary contributions in difficult circumstances, poor households, near-poor households, and ethnic minority households in need of livelihood support. Through screening, 5,952 households are in need of support to stabilize their lives and have additional income towards the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.

Localities have established working groups and volunteer teams for hamlets and villages, in which specific assignments are made to union members and youths to actively contribute working days. As a result, in districts and cities, there are about 97 volunteer teams, with more than 5,840 participants, contributing over 46,047 working days, estimated to be converted into about 15,444 million VND in cash through practical work such as: dismantling houses, building foundations, transporting materials, moving household items, roofing, installing electricity lines, etc.

The conference to summarize the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Ca Mau province is expected to take place on the morning of June 18 at the Provincial People's Committee Hall, organized in person and online at 3 levels, with livestreaming on social networking platforms. Before the conference, the Steering Committee selected a house in Ta An Khuong Dong commune, Dam Doi district to conduct the direct handover.

Representatives of leaders of some districts: U Minh, Phu Tan, Cai Nuoc, reported on the preparation work for the conference to summarize the program to eliminate temporary housing in the locality.

The conference program is expected to have 9 reports from groups and individuals; awarding plaques of gratitude to groups and individuals who have supported and shared materials and funds to contribute to the elimination of temporary houses in the area; rewarding 43 groups and 105 individuals (including 15 groups and 15 individuals at the provincial bridge); at the same time, integrating the launch of the Livelihood Support Project for households with revolutionary contributions in difficult circumstances, poor households, near-poor households, and ethnic minority households in need of livelihood support.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan suggested that on the afternoon of June 17, the Provincial People's Committee Office coordinate with relevant units to hold a press conference to inform about the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year, focusing on the implementation of 4 resolutions of the Central Committee; information on the results of the completion of the temporary housing elimination program and the progress of the 2-level government arrangement.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested localities and units to continue reviewing to ensure the quality and consistency of the temporary housing elimination program. This is considered an important political task to move towards ending district-level activities and forming new communes. The organization of the summary conference must be tight, commensurate with the provincial scale, spreading socially, which is the effort of the government, the people and businesses and the resolute direction of the Central Government; along with that is gratitude for the contributions of organizations and individuals, in order to highlight the humanity of the program.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan noted that the reception of delegates and guests must be thoughtful and respectful; the program between the connecting points must be synchronized; the clip shown at the conference needs little commentary, leaving time for companions and beneficiaries to share their feelings; the decoration, celebration, and display of images must be solemn...

“By completing the temporary housing elimination program, Ca Mau continues to open a new door, which is to implement the Project to support livelihoods for revolutionary contributors in difficult circumstances, poor households, near-poor households, and ethnic minority households, demonstrating Ca Mau province's determination in sustainable poverty reduction,” emphasized Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan.
