Singer - Actor Nguyen Phi Hung: "Every field of art is a world full of inspiration"

Appearing with MC Minh Ngoc in the program "Chuyen Toi Cung Sao", singer - actor Nguyen Phi Hung shared his emotional stories about his artistic journey with many opportunities. From a choreographer to a singer, then to cinema and composing, each milestone came gently but left a deep impression.

Originally a ballet choreographer for the October troupe, Nguyen Phi Hung had never thought of acting in films. But one day, he received an invitation to audition for the film Hai Au by director Le Bao Trung - who was looking for an actor with dancing talent. The familiar, intimate story of the film made Nguyen Phi Hung deeply sympathize and decide to participate with a carefree, innocent mindset. The film was then widely released, bringing him the Promising Actor award at the 2003 Golden Kite Awards, opening a completely new path.

From his "hidden fate" with cinema, Nguyen Phi Hung began to be more confident when participating in a series of movies and television series such as Love from the past, Love remains, The bed is divided in two... Each role helps him discover a new perspective in art and feel more deeply the audience's affection for him.

Not only a singer and actor, Nguyen Phi Hung is also a "cross-disciplinary" musician. His first song "Noi long xa xu" was written in 4 hours, stemming from his nostalgia for his homeland and his sympathy for those who are far from home. The song quickly touched the hearts of the audience, especially workers in industrial zones. "I was able to hug and cry with my friends when I sang in those places. It was just a composition from emotion, but it was warmly received, I was touched and extremely grateful," he said.

Besides Noi long xa xu, Nguyen Phi Hung also stands out with his compositions with Southern folk melodies such as Thuong lai cang thuong, Nguoi mien Tay. Although he was not born in the West, his deep affection for this land of love helped him fully express the spirit, melody and emotion. Thuong lai cang thuong was later also chosen as the soundtrack for a film about the late musician Cao Van Lau - a fateful coincidence.

Not stopping at pop music or folk songs, Nguyen Phi Hung also has a special love for Cai Luong. He often listens to and admires the rustic, emotional voices of the people of the West, especially the compositions of composer Vien Chau. He shared: “I feel the profound human values in each ancient song. Every time I sing, I learn something valuable about people and life.”

Possessing three professions at the same time – singer, actor, choreographer – Nguyen Phi Hung does not see it as a burden but as an enrichment of artistic life. He confided: “I feel like I have grown wings when doing art. Each field is an inspiring world for me to explore, transform and connect more deeply with the audience.”
