The bear received a general health check before being transported to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Center, Tam Dao district.
In Vinh Phuc, this is the last captive bear in a household. The owner has been legally raising the bear since 2001. The bear was fitted with a chip to verify its origin since 2005 and a new chip was fitted in 2019.
Over the years, the Vinh Phuc Forest Protection Department and Animals Asia have met and persuaded the bear owner to help the bear receive the best care at the largest Rescue Center in Vietnam right in the province.
With a clear mindset, the bear's owner, Ms. Ngo Thi Lien, voluntarily transferred and submitted a donation application to the State, wishing to bring the bear to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Center in Tam Dao after 23 years of raising it. The female bear was named Cresent and was rescued on the 26th anniversary of Animals Asia.
The bear rescue work took place safely and quickly.
Animals Asia was founded by Dr. Jill Robinson MBE. To date, the organization has rescued and cared for 280 moon and sun bears in Vietnam. The organization is launching a worldwide fundraising campaign, with the slogan #Nobearleftbehind - No bear left behind, with the goal of rescuing all bears in captivity in Vietnam.
The Vietnam Bear Rescue Center in Tam Dao National Park - the largest bear rescue center in the country - is currently raising 194 moon bears and sun bears in a semi-wild environment that meets international standards. The center is also a prestigious tourist and environmentaleducation destination, attracting many schools and people to learn about bears.
