Bui Thac Phong in the movie. |
As a young actor, the second generation of peacetime artists and directors, actor Bui Thac Phong, son of Meritorious Artist Tu Oanh and director Bui Thac Chuyen, said that his role is quite psychological, describing the changes in psychology, thoughts and feelings of a young soldier when standing in the ranks of the soldiers.
Thac Phong said that it was not easy to express this change, because he was born after the war and could not fully understand what his fathers' generations had experienced during the war. He was fortunate to receive guidance from his uncles, aunts, brothers and sisters in the crew, helping him understand and express the character. The very "touching" script was also a factor that helped actor Thac Phong push his emotions and make the role more realistic and closer. "I want to experience the feelings of my grandparents, uncles, fathers, and previous generations, so that I can somewhat understand them. Participating in the film is a valuable opportunity for me to do this," Thac Phong said.
For Thac Phong, this is not only a work of art but it also conveys many messages, helping young people change their perceptions and understand more about their previous generations.

Huyen Trang is a favorite face of the audience in the movie. |
Huyen Trang is a young face that received much praise from the audience when playing the role of Mrs. Hoi when she was young. The actress has an emotional face and eyes, showing the difficult scenes of a young military nurse, torn between love and duty, between the public and the private. This role also left a strong and deep impression on the actress.
Huyen Trang said that the film brought her many emotions. The biggest emotion was gratitude because the film gave her a chance to live a different life. “The days living with the crew and the character in Hoa Binh gave me the feeling of truly living as a nurse during wartime, in really difficult conditions. The film crew designed and created the setting, everything was so real that at times I felt like I completely forgot about my current life, not paying attention to the media or what was happening every day,” Huyen Trang said.
Those were the days living in the mountains, filming all day from early morning with the crew, then coming back to rest and have dinner. The actress said that at that time she understood why the old people in the past lived a peaceful and gentle life, and I understood what it felt like to live slowly. "The days accompanying the film gave me the feeling that I was pure and comfortable so that I could completely transform into the character", Huyen Trang shared.
There is one memory that the actress will always remember, it was a rainy afternoon scene, after setting up the camera and starting to prepare to film, it started to rain. At that time, no one in the crew stopped but just acted and filmed in the pouring rain. It was a completely real scene, without using any artificial rain. When the director called “cut” for the last take, the rain stopped, the whole crew was surprised to see the weather was strangely favorable.

Xuan Anh as teacher Tam. |
As for actress Xuan Anh in the role of teacher Tam, the strongest impression is the encouragement and support of the film crew for the young actors, and the creativity of director, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Danh Dung.
Xuan Anh said that when she used to watch films by director, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Danh Dung, she often wondered why there were sad scenes but still very positive. It was not until she acted in his films that she understood that, in all matters, the director always had a positive and optimistic perspective.
When working, the whole crew always jokes with each other, the image is very different, with jokes, humorous jokes to encourage and motivate the young actors. There are very sad scenes, but then the director has some parts that make the actors laugh a lot, so when the film is on, the audience will see that there are sad scenes but still have a very positive spirit.
That positivity is shown in the way the director and crew members encourage each other and the young actors in each filming set, from "releasing" emotions to joking so that everyone feels happy, overcoming difficult conditions and heavy psychology.
In addition, every day the director has new creations on the script, with interesting ideas that make the young actors ask each other every morning what the director will create for today. "Participating in a film is a feeling of being constantly creative when entering the film, creating to bring positive messages about the beautiful country and people of Vietnam" - Xuan Anh said.
After 8 months of hard work overcoming all difficulties, the film crew reached the finish line and brought to the audience emotional footage of each artist participating in the film. As Huyen Trang said: “The film has so many things that make us feel grateful. The years on set are imprinted in my mind, I will never forget them and it was an extremely meaningful time.”
