The conference took place over 3 days from October 14 to 16, with sessions and seminars for delegates to focus on exchanging policies, urban management experiences, and solutions to improve the quality of life in cities with unique heritage values with the theme "Livability for sustainable development of world heritage cities". In addition, the conference also had a special session introducing the New Urban Project (NUP) chaired by the OWHC Secretary General, aiming at smart, sustainable and community-connected urban models.
During the conference, delegates will also visit the Hue Monuments Complex; present awards for the World Heritage Research Contest and the Heritage City Content Creation Contest; exchange traditional fashion between Korea and Vietnam; and a special Hue Royal Court traditional art program.
The Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) was established in 1993, headquartered in Quebec City (Canada), with more than 200 member cities with heritage recognized by UNESCO. OWHC has 5 regional secretariats worldwide, of which the Asia-Pacific Regional Secretariat (OWHC-AP) is located in Gyeongju City (South Korea). The OWHC-AP Regional Conference is held every two years, serving as a forum for exchanging knowledge, experience and solutions for urban heritage conservation, while strengthening the cooperation network among member cities.
