1. Ingredients for making onion-marinated beans
5 pieces of tofu
60g green onion
35ml fish sauce
20g sugar
3g MSG
a little cooking oil
2. How to make onion-marinated tofu
Step 1: Prepare ingredients
First, wash the tofu and cut it into 1.5cm thick pieces. Next, remove the roots of the green onions, wash them and cut them into 0.5cm pieces.
Step 2: Mix fish sauce to marinate the beans
Add chopped green onions to a bowl with 2.5 tablespoons fish sauce, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon MSG and 7 tablespoons water. Then stir well to dissolve all ingredients.
Step 3: Fry the beans
Place the pan on the stove, then add enough cooking oil and heat it up. Once the oil is hot, add each piece of tofu and fry.
While frying, turn the tofu over to ensure it is evenly golden brown. Next, remove the fried tofu and quickly add it to the prepared bowl of green onion fish sauce. The hot tofu will remove the pungent taste of the onion.
Step 4: Finish
Remove the tofu to a plate and sprinkle some green onions on top of the tofu and enjoy. Scallion tofu is great with white rice or mung bean porridge.
3. Notes when making onion-marinated tofu
To make delicious onion-marinated tofu, you need to choose good tofu. You should choose pieces that are ivory white in color, dry on the surface but elastic and smooth; avoid buying pieces of tofu that are too soft or too hard or slimy.
You should buy white tofu to fry, instead of buying pre-fried tofu.
With green onions, you should choose the type of green onion with small bulbs and small onion stalks, so that when processing the onion, it will quickly soften and not be too pungent. In addition, you should choose fresh green onion stalks, shiny, not crushed and with intact roots.
To keep the tofu from breaking when fried, you can roll the tofu in flour first, gently, to avoid breaking the tofu.
When frying, heat the oil until hot and then lower the heat to medium when adding the tofu. Do not fry for too long, as this will cause the tofu to become dry and hard. If you have a lot of tofu, divide it into batches to fry, do not let the pieces of tofu stick together or be too much.
With the onion fish sauce mixture, you can adjust it according to your family's taste and region.
When enjoying the onion-marinated tofu, you will feel the crispy tofu on the outside, fatty on the inside, perfectly combined with the fragrant, rich fish sauce and onion sauce.
Onion-marinated beans are a familiar dish of many families because of their simplicity and appeal. With the simple yet delicious way to make onion-marinated beans as above, you have another delicious dish for your family to enjoy.
Good luck!
