August Revolution - Immortal epic

Báo Quân đội Nhân dânBáo Quân đội Nhân dân22/08/2024

The August Revolution is one of the three great victories of the Vietnamese Revolution in the 20th century. The August epic is the result of the convergence of strength, intelligence, and spirit of Vietnam in the Ho Chi Minh era under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam .
The August Revolution will forever live on with the nation because of its profound historical significance and contemporary significance. However, some organizations and individuals, especially hostile forces, have deliberately distorted historical truths, swapped revolutionary achievements, sought to undermine Vietnam's strength and tarnish the reputation of the Communist Party of Vietnam with the argument: The August Revolution was "lucky" due to a "power vacuum". "Lucky" - a type of cover-up thinking. The most insidious distortion and swapping argument that hostile forces have tried to exploit and use is that the August Revolution took place at a time when Vietnam was experiencing a "power vacuum" after World War II. That fallacy was argued by William.J. (The United States) glossed over in the book “The Communist Path to Power in Vietnam” that: “The rapid disintegration of the government in both urban and rural areas coupled with the delay in landing of Allied occupation forces after Japan's surrender created a political vacuum at all points of power.” In the book “Vietnamese Revolution 1945-Roosevelt, Ho Chi Minh and De Gaulle in a World at War”, Stein Tonnesson (Norway) created himself: “The power vacuum can be described more specifically as the absence of the French and the Allies, the indecision of the Japanese in maintaining their rule until the Allies arrived, and the inability of the mandarins and their administration to serve their own interests” and from there deliberately accused: “By creating a power vacuum, the great powers turned the whole situation upside down and thus “invited” the Viet Minh to seize power”... These distorted arguments are continuously exploited and disseminated by hostile and reactionary forces. They justified that since the coup on March 9, 1945, Vietnam was no longer a French colony, until the Japanese fascists announced their unconditional surrender to the Allies, a "power vacuum" appeared in Vietnam, and when a "power vacuum" appeared, the revolution broke out and won, without the need for "hard work in organizing and leading".

The common point of the anti-government arguments used by opportunistic, dissatisfied, hostile, and reactionary forces is the blatant trick of inference, labeling, and attribution. They deliberately confuse concepts and argue that the August Revolution took place at a time when there was a "power vacuum" in Indochina in general, and Vietnam in particular, after the Japanese Emperor announced on the radio his acceptance of unconditional surrender to the Allies (August 14, 1945) and attributed that the revolution only needed to break out to gain victory, leading to the accusation that it was not an achievement achieved by the strength of the entire Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Party, but was purely a "luck". The essence of that argument is to undermine the leadership role of the Party and leader Ho Chi Minh , to lower the strength of the masses in this great revolution, to obscure the great achievements and values of the "earth-shattering" revolution. The great achievement is an irreversible truth . In theory, social revolution is a fundamental qualitative change in all areas of social life and a way of transitioning from an old socio-economic form to a superior socio-economic form. The core nature of social revolution is to overthrow an outdated government and establish a more progressive political regime. Therefore, the revolutionary class must seize power from the ruling, reactionary class and build a revolutionary government apparatus. However, even though it has become outdated and reactionary, the ruling class never gives up the leadership of society to another class, so revolutionary violence is the universal law of all revolutions. Therefore, social revolution is only successful when the revolutionary class gathers and organizes a strong enough force to overthrow the counter-revolutionary violence, smash the old government apparatus, and build a new government. As the most profound, comprehensive, and radical social revolution, the path to victory of the proletarian revolution becomes even more difficult, complicated, and arduous. The natural historical process of human society shows that no social revolution has ever won by “luck” in the style of “waiting for the plum to fall into one’s mouth” or by a gift. Successful revolutions in the world are all challenging and sacrificial battles of the revolutionary forces. In the American bourgeois revolution (1765-1783), the United States had to wage war with military force against the British Empire to gain independence and establish the first modern constitutional democracy, the United States of America. In Russia, under the leadership of the Bolshevik Party and directly the Revolutionary Military Committee, the Russian people and revolutionary armed forces (Red Guards, sailors, soldiers) launched an armed uprising and won the victory in the October Revolution of 1917, establishing the Soviet Russia... The August Revolution was the inevitable result of a long and elaborate preparation process with the mettle, intelligence, and strength of Vietnam. As soon as it was born, the Communist Party of Vietnam established the correct path, carried out by the method of revolutionary violence of the masses to overthrow counter-revolutionary violence. Throughout 15 years (1930-1945), through 3 revolutionary high tides, the Party led the entire Vietnamese nation to make comprehensive preparations, proactively creating force, creating position, and creating revolutionary opportunities. As soon as the revolutionary situation was identified, the Party advocated putting the task of fighting imperialism and its lackeys and liberating the nation first at the 6th Central Conference (November 1939) and was completed by the 8th Central Conference (May 1941). After Japan's coup against France, the Party Central Committee's Standing Committee issued the Directive "Japan-France fighting each other and our actions" (March 12, 1945), clearly stating: "Good opportunities are helping the conditions for uprising to ripen quickly"; at the same time, it decided to establish the Revolutionary Military Committee, the National Liberation Committee, the Revolutionary People's Committee... as a premise for the general uprising. The Northern Military Revolutionary Conference (from April 15 to 20, 1945) pointed out that “The situation has placed military tasks above all other important and urgent tasks at this time”, in order to fulfill the responsibility “in the current pre-uprising period and in the upcoming general uprising period”. Sensitive to the times, accurately assessing the ripeness of the revolutionary opportunity, the Party issued a call: “The hour for decisive action has come. Compatriots and national salvation organizations... join the Liberation Army and the Self-Defense Forces to rise up and capture the posts, district capitals, prefectures and provincial capitals, and disarm the Japanese invaders”. The letter calling for a general uprising by leader Ho Chi Minh also pointed out: “The decisive hour for the destiny of our nation has come. The whole country's compatriots must rise up and use our own strength to liberate ourselves”. One day before the Emperor publicly announced his surrender, the Uprising Committee issued the General Uprising Order (Order No. 1, August 13, 1945), calling on the entire Vietnamese people to carry out a general uprising to seize power nationwide. Reality has confirmed that during the period from when Japan overthrew the French and monopolized Indochina until the day the general uprising succeeded, there was no “power vacuum” in Vietnam, because the Japanese 38th Army Group quickly established a ruling apparatus to gain control over the entire territory of Vietnam and Indochina. One day after Order No. 1 was issued, the Tran Trong Kim Government still declared “Absolutely not to retreat a step in the face of any difficulty to fulfill its mission...” and pledged to “still cooperate closely with the Japanese authorities”. On the other hand, when the Party led the entire people to carry out the general uprising, the Japanese and French troops in Indochina were still almost intact in terms of force and the Allied forces had not yet entered Indochina. Therefore, seizing the "golden opportunity" is a unique art that our Party, headed by Uncle Ho, promptly grasped, leading the entire people to use all their strength to launch a decisive blow to defeat the enemy. Historical lessons and contemporary values of the successful August Revolution, "Our people have broken the colonial chains of nearly 100 years to build an independent Vietnam. Our people also overthrew the monarchy of several decades to establish a republic" (1) . The victory of the August Revolution opened a major turning point, bringing the Vietnamese nation into the era of national independence and socialism, bringing our people from the status of slaves to become masters of the country, masters of their own destiny and making our Party the ruling party. It was the victory of the spirit of self-reliance, using our own strength to liberate ourselves... It was the victory of the mettle, intelligence, strength, will, and righteous belief of the entire Vietnamese nation under the leadership of the Party. “Not only the working class and the Vietnamese people can be proud, but the working class and oppressed peoples elsewhere can also be proud that this is the first time in the revolutionary history of colonial and semi-colonial peoples that a Party only 15 years old has led a successful revolution and taken power nationwide” (2) . That great significance was assessed by Mongolian historian, Dr. Sanomish Dashtsevel: “The August Revolution created conditions for the Vietnamese people to become masters of the country, to achieve great achievements in the cause of defending the Fatherland and building the country. The August Revolution also has important significance for the national liberation and democratic movements in Asian countries and in the world”. For the international community, “among communist revolutions, the revolution of the Vietnamese people stands out as one of the most vital and disruptive revolutions”. The victory of the August Revolution clarified and supplemented the Marxist-Leninist theory on the colonial national liberation revolution in the new era. The August Revolution still retains its profound contemporary value. It is the source for the Vietnamese people to arouse their aspirations to contribute, promote endogenous strength to promote the country's rapid and sustainable development on the path of socialism under the leadership of the Party, for a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization. The obvious truth is only one, historical truth is eternal. The achievements of the August Revolution are the crystallization of the efforts, intelligence, will, and blood of the entire Vietnamese people, led by the Communist Party of Vietnam. It is the result of the careful, scientific preparation of revolutionary strength and potential, and the political sensitivity in identifying the situation and revolutionary opportunities of our Party.
