Regarding some potential risks from the loudspeaker announcing the receipt of money transfers when customers intentionally transfer the wrong amount of money that the Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, many people wonder why it is possible to transfer a few hundred dong while the minimum amount according to banks' regulations is from a few thousand dong or more?
According to the reporter's research, the actual minimum transfer amount varies depending on the bank or transfer method. However, most of them stipulate a minimum limit of 1,000 or 2,000 VND, while most e-wallets allow transfers from 100 VND. Therefore, this could be a loophole for some customers to take advantage of and transfer the wrong amount.
The transfer notification speaker is a powerful support tool for restaurant owners, shops, businesses... to conveniently hear the notification of the amount customers pay.
A representative of a commercial bank said: "Customers still transfer the correct amount of money, and the speaker system still plays the corresponding sound. The problem lies in the vigilance of the recipient - usually the owner of a restaurant or store."
Transfer notification devices are being used by many small businesses because they are convenient and help quickly identify transactions. However, scammers can take advantage of this convenience to commit fraud, especially when the seller does not check the account again after hearing the notification sound.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Tan, Marketing Director of Haravan Technology Joint Stock Company, emphasized; "The speaker only supports notifications, not confirming money into the account. Sellers need to carefully check the information, avoid being fooled by tricks such as transferring money to the wrong number, falsifying invoices or pasting fake QR codes".
According to Mr. Tan, fraud is becoming more and more sophisticated, so business people need to be more vigilant, especially in non-cash transactions.
The minimum transfer amount between e-wallets is 100 VND
A representative of 9Pay e-wallet, a payment intermediary licensed by the State Bank, said that the unit has just launched TingTing Speaker - a device that notifies QR code transfer payment results by voice, so that merchants do not need to open their phones to check but still confirm transfer transactions quickly and clearly.
"However, the device only reads the actual amount of money transferred by the customer: "TingTing two hundred thousand dong", but in reality, when operating, especially when there are many customers, the store owner can vaguely hear the amount without clearly hearing the transfer unit - for example "200 dong instead of "200,000 dong" - which can easily lead to misunderstandings or being taken advantage of by some customers with unclear intentions" - said a 9Pay representative.
Therefore, 9Pay recommends that store owners should combine listening - watching - checking again on the application (app) before delivering or completing the service, especially with large value transactions.
