Collection "Beautiful Dong Nai " by designer Xuyen Tran in Ao Dai Fashion show Heritage Region
The Heritage Region Ao Dai Fashion Show was held within the framework of the National Finals of the 2023 Women's Entrepreneurship and Indigenous Resources Promotion Contest recently held by the Vietnam Women's Union in Hanoi . 11 designers representing more than 6,000 female members brought 11 collections of different heritage regions, contributing to honoring the beauty, value and flavor of each land.
With a love for Ao Dai and a desire to introduce the "steel land" on the Ao Dai, designer Xuyen Tran has created a unique collection of beautiful Dong Nai. The beauties depicted by the designer in this collection are Tran Bien Temple of Literature, Binh Truoc Assembly Hall, and Buu Long tourist area.

Designer Xuyen Tran said: “I included these heritage sites in the collection because Binh Truoc Assembly Hall was an institution of village and commune officials before 1945 in Binh Truoc Commune (Long Chau Thanh District), now Bien Hoa City. Tran Bien Temple of Literature is a national historical relic over 300 years old, a place to preserve, maintain and honor the cultural and educational values of Bien Hoa land. Buu Long Tourist Area was previously just a wild rocky mountain area, but recognizing the cultural values and natural scenery, Dong Nai planned, developed and shaped it into a famous tourist area. All of these heritage sites have created a beautiful, livable Dong Nai land and made a unique mark in my Ao Dai Collection”.
In the beautiful Dong Nai collection, the designs are delicately hand-embroidered with flower-petal crystal beads and artificial diamonds, combined with traditional hand embroidery techniques to increase the value of Vietnamese ao dai.
Designer Xuyen Tran succeeded thanks to the support and training of designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam.
Designer Xuyen Tran said that the Ao Dai Fashion Show Heritage Region is a program that helps her feel more proud and inspired to create, honoring the beauty of her homeland and country. “I personally cannot create all the Vietnamese heritages, so the combination of 11 designers nationwide is very valuable. In our work, we can support and learn from each other to create a complete and rich common collection. Although we encountered difficulties in terms of time and color overlap, under the dedicated guidance of designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam, we have created impressive heritage regions of the rich, prosperous and valuable Vietnam,” said Xuyen Tran.
Designer Xuyen Tran started out as a garment worker, with a passion for traditional ao dai, she decided to “change paths”. She chose to attend ao dai formula courses from designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam. After a while, Xuyen Tran launched her first collection called Mother’s Light, which was performed in the program Pride of Vietnamese Ao Dai.
Designer Xuyen Tran has created many famous Ao Dai collections, well received by the public and highly appreciated by experts.
In the following years, designer Xuyen Tran "launched" many collections that were highly appreciated by experts. Notably, the collection Traditional Cultural Heritage of the Homeland won third prize in a contest on Vietnamese Ao Dai in 2020 and was auctioned for 101 million VND. Currently, she is the owner of a designer Ao Dai business in Thong Nhat District (Dong Nai), creating jobs for dozens of local workers.
Designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam has recently accompanied the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union in many meaningful cultural and social activities. Among them, there is a free training program on tailoring and designing ao dai for female members. Designer Xuyen Tran confided: "I was trained by designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam on traditional ao dai, design thinking, changing the way of creating, how to build open relationships with society, business strategies...".
