All people and vehicles are prohibited from crossing Yen Bai bridge.

Accordingly, the Department requires people and vehicles not to cross this bridge from 6:00 p.m. on September 9 until further notice from competent authorities (except for forces participating in traffic safety, rescue, and relief).

Yen Bai bridge ban

According to the announcement of the Yen Bai Province Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 6-12 hours, the flood on Thao River (Red River) will continue to rise, possibly reaching 34.3m (on BĐ3: 2.3m).

Currently, the water level of the Red River flowing through Yen Bai Bridge, Km280+500, National Highway 37 is close to the bridge inspection vehicle (below the bridge's steel truss system) and there is a lot of garbage and floating trees on the river. To ensure the safety of life and property for organizations and individuals participating in traffic, the Department of Transport of Yen Bai province prohibits all people and vehicles from crossing this bridge.

Vehicles moving to the western districts and towns of the province and the western communes and wards of the city pass through Tuan Quan, Bach Lam, Gioi Phien bridges or Van Phu bridges and vice versa.

After the Phong Chau bridge collapse, vehicles are banned from crossing Tu My and Trung Ha bridges.

Phu Tho province banned all vehicles from crossing Tu My and Trung Ha bridges after the Phong Chau bridge collapsed.

Initial cause of Phong Chau bridge collapse in Phu Tho

According to the Department of Transport of Phu Tho province, due to the impact of storm No. 3 causing floods, the Red River rose high, and the rapid flow changed the terrain and geomorphology of the riverbed in the Phong Chau bridge area, pulling down pillar T7 and collapsing 2 main spans of the bridge.
