Need to effectively exploit smart parking lots

On the afternoon of May 22, the Urban Committee of the City People's Council inspected the implementation of investment and exploitation of smart parking lots in the city.

Through actual inspection of the parking lots at 166 Hai Phong and 255 Phan Chau Trinh, the initial assessment team found that people are accustomed to parking at these two parking lots, limiting parking on surrounding roads, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety in the area. However, the units have not yet fully exploited the capacity of the two parking lots.

The Urban Committee of the City People's Council requested the Department of Construction to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to propose adjustments to parking service prices at parking lots to suit market conditions; means of transportation for people, regulations on coordination with relevant units and localities in the inspection and handling of traffic safety violations, especially illegal parking in parking lots; ensuring that the initial goal in building smart parking lots is to solve the problem of people's livelihood, urban order, and sidewalk order.

According to the report of the Department of Construction, the parking lot at 255 Phan Chau Trinh (phase 1) was approved by the City People's Committee with a scale of 2 blocks of 6 floors (5 bays/1 floor) with 50 parking spaces. Phase 1 will be put into operation from December 20, 2019 to March 31, 2024, with an average revenue of 45.8 million VND/month.

Phase 2 has been in operation since April 2024 (scale of 2 blocks of 6 floors with 124 parking spaces), with an average revenue of 98 million VND/month. Parking lot No. 166 Hai Phong (phase 1) was approved by the City People's Committee with a scale of 4 blocks of 6 floors with 173 parking spaces, in operation since March 1, 2024, with an average revenue of 92 million VND/month. These are parking lots invested with modern technology (semi-automatic parking system, using puzzle parking technology, parking in the form of lifting and sliding with lifting and sliding structures, safety systems and other systems controlled electronically).
