Fishermen in Cam Nhuong commune strive to go offshore and reap many "sea rewards".

These days, the Cua Nhuong fishing port area (Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen) is always bustling with seafood trading. According to fishermen, since the beginning of the year, they have continued to go to sea, bringing in a stable source of income and creating a diverse source of seafood.

Fisherman Nguyen Van Nhan (Cam Nhuong commune) shared: "Having been involved in the fishing industry for many years, we always take advantage of every day and every hour when the weather is favorable to go out to sea. With the experience of "listening to the waves and looking at the clouds", we know when to go out and when to return. In addition to bringing in a stable income of 4 - 7 million VND per trip, each voyage is also an affirmation of the presence of fishermen in our sea. That is how we contribute to protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands."

Fresh seafood is sold as soon as it reaches shore.

Not only Mr. Nhan, hundreds of other fishermen in Cam Nhuong also always try to overcome difficulties to stay at sea. "In recent trips, the boat has caught a lot of croaker, mackerel and squid. After deducting the cost of fuel, ice and food, my boat earns nearly 5 million VND/trip. This is a good amount of money to cover living expenses and invest in the next trips. Because it is a favorable fishing season, with beautiful sunshine, I always go out to sea regularly, taking advantage of maximum time to earn more income" - fisherman Hoang Van Binh (Cam Nhuong commune) said.

The entire Cam Nhuong commune currently has more than 200 fishing boats, all of which are trying to stay at sea, boldly investing in fishing gear to improve exploitation efficiency and expand fishing grounds.

Going offshore regularly not only helps fishermen bring in a good income but also creates a diverse source of seafood.

“Accompanying fishermen, the locality always coordinates with relevant units to organize training courses to improve knowledge of maritime safety, skills to respond to natural disasters at sea and guide fishermen to exploit sustainably and legally. The commune pays special attention to propaganda work, raising fishermen's awareness of protecting the marine environment, resolutely fighting against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. This is not only for immediate economic benefits but also a responsibility to future generations, ensuring sustainable fisheries development" - Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Cam Nhuong Commune People's Committee emphasized.

In line with the production rhythm, fishermen in coastal localities of Ha Tinh are also taking advantage of favorable weather to go out to sea. At Cua Sot fishing port (Thach Kim commune, Thach Ha), the trading atmosphere is always bustling and busy. Many boats of the people have just docked to unload seafood and are busy preparing nets, fuel, ice, food... for the next trip.

Fisherman Hoang Van Ninh (Thach Kim commune) excitedly said: "On this trip, my boat was lucky to catch nearly 300 kg of crabs and more than 200 kg of various types of fish. After deducting expenses, we earned about 20 million VND. As soon as we sold all the fish and crabs in the hold, we quickly prepared to go out to sea, making the most of the beautiful sunny days and calm seas."

In order to help fishermen have effective fishing trips, the Management Board of Fishing Ports and Storm Shelters for Fishing Vessels in Ha Tinh has implemented many accompanying solutions.

"The unit strengthens the inspection and supervision of seafood quality at the port, ensuring food hygiene and safety. Regularly coordinates closely with functional forces to grasp the situation at sea, promptly inform the movement of storms and tropical depressions and support fishermen when encountering incidents, ensuring maximum safety for fishermen on each sea trip. This not only helps fishermen feel secure when going out to sea and getting rich from the sea, but also contributes to firmly protecting national sovereignty at sea" - Mr. Than Quoc Te, Deputy Director of the Management Board said.

Easily consumed seafood gives more motivation to fishermen.

Data from the Ha Tinh Fisheries Department shows that since the beginning of 2025, the fleet of nearly 4,000 fishing boats of fishermen in the province has been operating quite effectively. The total output of aquatic products in 5 months reached more than 18 thousand tons, an increase of 4.16% over the same period in 2024. These are not only impressive growth figures but also evidence of positive changes in the awareness and actions of Ha Tinh fishermen, when fishing activities are increasingly associated with compliance with the law, protecting fishing grounds, preventing IUU fishing and contributing to protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands.

The persistent efforts of Ha Tinh fishermen, together with the support of the government and relevant agencies, not only bring stable income, improve family life but also contribute positively to the development of the province's marine economy.
