Warning of continued risk of landslides and flooding due to heavy rain

According to preliminary statistics, heavy rains damaged 30-50% of a house in Meo Vac district; landslides in the embankment area of ​​Nguyen Binh Khiem high-quality school, Dong Van town (Dong Van); some households in Viet Quang town (Bac Quang) had their houses flooded, causing property damage. Regarding agriculture , the total damaged crop area is estimated at 11.7 hectares, mainly in Dong Tien commune (Bac Quang).

Heavy rain caused localized flooding on National Highway 279, from Viet Quang town to Quang Binh, causing traffic congestion. Some inter-commune roads suffered serious landslides, such as the Viet Quang (Bac Quang) - Xuan Giang (Quang Binh) section and the road from Xin Cai commune to Son Vi commune (Meo Vac), with the total volume of landslides reaching hundreds of cubic meters. Total damage was estimated at over 200 million VND.

Faced with complicated weather developments, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control requested localities to strengthen monitoring of flood and storm developments, maintain 24/7 duty; post warning signs at dangerous locations at risk of flooding and landslides; strictly prohibit people from passing through underground overflow and slope areas when safety is not yet guaranteed. Communes and towns urgently review and evacuate people from high-risk areas and organize forces and means to be ready to respond and handle according to the "4 on-site" motto.
