The remaining items such as riverbank reinforcement, railing installation, steel divider, and signage system are expected to be completed before December 25.

My Thuan 2 Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge are 6.6km long; of which, My Thuan 2 Bridge is nearly 2km long with 6 lanes, designed speed of 80km/h. The bridge has a starting point connecting Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway and an ending point connecting My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway. The total investment of the project is more than 5,000 billion VND.

The My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway is nearly 23km long, passing through Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces, with a total investment of over VND4,800 billion. To date, the project has completed over 80%. The bridges on the main route have been completed, some sections of the road are being paved with asphalt concrete, expected to be completed before December 20.

Currently, phase 1 of the expressway has 4 lanes, designed speed of 80km/h, equivalent to Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway. In the completed phase, the route is designed with 6 lanes, speed of 100km/h.

According to the Ministry of Transport , during the inspection in early December, the Ministry requested contractors to complete the remaining items of the main expressway, service roads, and traffic safety system by December 25, in preparation for the State Acceptance Council delegation to inspect.

The completion of the My Thuan 2 Bridge and My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway projects will synchronously connect the expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho, which is more than 120km long, shortening travel time to just over 2 hours, instead of about 3.5 hours as at present.

Also at the end of the year, the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai will be inaugurated. The 40km long route, passing through Tuyen Quang province for 11km and Phu Tho province for 28km, with a total investment of more than 3,750 billion VND, includes 4 lanes, and a designed speed of 120km/h.

Many sections of the expressway are designed to run parallel to National Highway 2. The completed route will help reduce the load on National Highway 2, shortening travel time between Hanoi and the provinces of Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang./.
