The Truong sisters "caused a stir" at the VBA event launching the 10th season.

On the afternoon of April 19, the Vietnam Professional Basketball League (VBA) held a ceremony to launch the 10th season at AEON Mall Tan Phu Celadon (HCMC). Entering this important milestone, the VBA organizing committee promises to implement many strategic innovations to continue its mission of promoting Vietnamese professional basketball to reach new heights and develop.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tran Chu Sa, CEO of VBA, announced the slogan of the season: “VBA X – Rise Beyond: Reaching beyond limits”. At the same time, he affirmed that the 10th VBA season will lay the foundation for a strategic vision in the next era, aiming for comprehensive, sustainable and international development for Vietnamese basketball.

The return of home-away format

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, VBA has flexibly applied a centralized or semi-centralized competition model to help teams reduce the pressure on travel costs, while creating conditions for the organizing committee to increase the number of matches.

However, this model also leaves many regrets for fans in localities such as Da Nang, Can Tho, or even Hanoi - where there is no longer a chance to directly cheer for the home team. This leads to the gradual cooling of the passion for basketball in the regions.

According to Mr. Tran Chu Sa - VBA Executive Director, from the very beginning, the tournament has chosen the philosophy: "Taking fans as the center, constantly striving for excellence, creating a positive, trustworthy and sustainable happy basketball community."

Therefore, the VBA 10 season marks the strong return of the home-away format as a strategic move to arouse the spirit of enthusiastic cheering in each locality, while continuing to build a loyal and close-knit fan community nationwide.

With the participation of 7 teams: Hanoi Buffaloes, Danang Dragons, Nha Trang Dolphins, Ho Chi Minh City Wings, Saigon Heat, Cantho Catfish and an international guest team, VBA 10 promises to bring the passionate basketball atmosphere back to key cities such as Hanoi, Danang, Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City - where the passion for basketball always burns in the hearts of fans.

Professional Development

In the past 5 seasons, VBA has witnessed the absolute dominance of Saigon Heat. On the contrary, the rest of the tournament is showing signs of weakening, even the former champion Thang Long Warriors suddenly withdrew from last season.

Faced with this situation, VBA has implemented strategic steps, notably inviting an additional international team to participate in this year's season. At the same time, launching the Asian Import format.

Asia's top players will come to Vietnam to compete in VBA.

Watching Vietnamese basketball over the years, it can be seen that the presence of foreign players and overseas Vietnamese players has played an important role in improving the ability of domestic players. Thanks to that, more and more "homegrown" athletes have risen to the level of overseas Vietnamese players - something that was once considered impossible in the early stages of VBA.

At VBA 10, the chance to compete with foreign teams, and also with top Asian players, will certainly help Vietnamese basketball players improve their skills.

In addition to innovations in organizational models and fan experiences, the VBA10 – 2025 season also marks a special milestone with the official introduction of the StarXidol Inspirational Ambassador system – a new initiative to spread positive values ​​from sports to the community.

The ambassadors introduced in the VBA10 season include: Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy (Truong Twins) – basketball inspirational ambassadors; Luong Xuan Truong and Nguyen Thi Anh Vien – sports inspirational ambassadors; Cuong Seven – entertainment inspirational ambassadors.

Throughout the upcoming season, each ambassador will accompany VBA in community activities, exchanges, communications and special events, contributing to strongly spreading the spirit of "Rise Beyond - Reaching beyond limits" to the young generation and sports fan community across the country.

Also within the framework of the event, VBA officially signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB) in the 10th season, together towards the common mission of "Creating a generation of great achievements - Accompanying sustainable development".

This cooperation focuses on three main areas: improving community physical fitness through sports and healthy activities; nurturing optimism and resilience in young people; and accompanying the building of a proactive, responsible generation ready to break through.
