The 7th Reading Culture Development Award was presented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to honor outstanding organizations and individuals who have made many contributions to the development of reading culture in the community. After 7 times of organization, the award has increasingly spread and created attraction in the community. This year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism received 118 applications for the award (including 69 collective applications and 49 individual applications). The general assessment shows that many collectives and individuals proposed for the award have created and provided products, services, initiatives, models, and effective methods of organizing reading promotion, contributing to the development of reading culture in the community, which have been recognized and positively evaluated by society. Through the assessment and selection, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to award 20 collectives and 15 outstanding individuals nationwide.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Phan Tam said: “The award will be a further motivation to encourage organizations and individuals to join hands and contribute to developing a sustainable reading culture for the community. And each collective and individual receiving the award will be a flame that lights up and spreads the love of reading culture.”
Activities to develop a reading culture in the community are one of the goals and tasks that the Ben Tre Young Intellectuals Club is passionate about, promoting the role of young intellectuals in connecting and spreading knowledge. The Ben Tre Young Intellectuals Club has implemented activities to contribute to developing a reading culture for the community over the past 5 years (2021-2025).
Community book space in Binh Thanh commune, Giong Trom district is implemented by the Ben Tre Province Young Intellectuals Club and other units.
Specifically, with the program "Contribute knowledge, weave spring" organized annually, the club has mobilized, connected and coordinated with localities and units to build book spaces for the community in communes. Including the Book Space for the community in My Thanh commune, Ba Tri district (building a reading room, donating 600 books), the Book Space for the community in Binh Thanh commune, Giong Trom district (building a reading room, donating 800 books), donating printed books and e-books to school libraries including: Phu Khanh Secondary School library, Thanh Phu district (300 books), Vo Van Kiet High School library, Cho Lach district (more than 800 printed books and e-bookshelves with library equipment).
The Club also proposed and coordinated to build a "Green Knowledge Space" at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ben Tre province to introduce books, reading space, green space, and relaxation for officers, civil servants, and public employees at the unit with about 150 paper books specializing in agriculture and rural development.
From 2024 to present, the Club has signed a cooperation agreement with Nguyen Dinh Chieu Library and the Provincial Cultural - Cinema Center, actively participating in Book Day activities and reading culture of Ben Tre province, contributing books to Truong Sa Bookcase, located at Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School, Cu Jang commune, Eakar district, Dak Lak province, 380 books.
