Huong River Overpass with Giant Steel Arch, Efforts to Reach the Finish Line Soon

According to the reporter of Giao Thong Newspaper in late July 2024, the steel arch bridge project of the 2,200 billion project in Hue is being "sprinted" by the contractor before the rainy season.

At the construction site, a team of engineers and hundreds of workers are busy constructing various items.

Notably, after more than 19 months of urgent construction, up to now, the Nguyen Hoang bridge project, part of the Nguyen Hoang road and Huong river overpass project, has completed the main span and the upstream steel arch.

The remaining steel arch will also be completed in the next few days.

According to the contractor's representative, the unit is currently focusing its efforts on opening the Huong River overpass to technical traffic in October 2024.

The Nguyen Hoang Street project, the intersection is about 300m long and the Huong River overpass is 350m long, with a total investment of more than 2,200 billion VND, of which the construction cost is more than 1,440 billion VND, invested by the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.

In particular, with a span length of 180m and a cross-section of 43m, it is the steel arch bridge with the largest span length and width in Vietnam today.

The project started on December 23, 2022, by the consortium of Trung Chinh Construction and Trading Company Limited - Thua Thien - Hue Construction and Management Joint Stock Company - Viet Anh Import-Export Trade Construction Investment Joint Stock Company - Thua Thien - Hue Road I Joint Stock Company with a construction period of 1,090 days (3 years).

Currently, in parallel with the steel arch section, the contractor is urgently constructing the pedestrian bridge sections turning down to both sides of the bridge and related items.

In order for the project to achieve progress and plan, the leaders of the Department of Transport requested the People's Committee of Hue City to speed up site clearance work.

Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of Transport of Thua Thien - Hue province, said that the Huong River overpass is expected to be inaugurated on March 26, 2025 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Thua Thien - Hue province and other important events of the homeland and the country.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Thua Thien - Hue province Le Truong Luu emphasized that the current site clearance work is also a "bottleneck" affecting investment projects, so the province has directed localities, especially Hue city, to continue to pay attention to promoting this work.

A representative of Trung Chinh contractor said that according to the plan, the project is expected to be completed on December 17, 2025, but currently the units are focusing their efforts to shorten the completion time to the above-mentioned March 2025.
