For the past two years, Celine Dion has been battling a serious illness - "stiff body" disease - every day in the hope of one day being able to return to the stage. At the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics, she performed the French song Hymne à l'amour (which made the name of the legendary French singer Edith Piaf in the 1950s). This is the second time the singer has performed at the Olympics, the last time being in 1996, when she sang The Power of the Dream in the US.

According to TMZ , the Canadian singer was paid up to 2 million USD (more than 50 billion VND) for the performance. This information was released by the media when the My Heart Will Go On singer appeared at a hotel in Paris to prepare for the show. However, a representative of the Olympic organizing committee said that the singer would not receive the above amount because "the artists agreed to perform under conditions that showed that they wanted to be a part of this historic event". However, the organizing committee also said that they would pay any fees related to the performance, travel, and technical costs for the participating artists.
