Shocking rumors that Apple is doing something "hard to swallow" with not only iPhone 15 but also 14,13,12?

The one who brought good news

In July 2023, the leaker behind the X/Twitter social media account "RGcloudS" revealed that since the ‌iPhone 15‌ series, Apple has introduced stacked battery technology into its smartphones.

"RGcloudS" also notes that this information is part of a larger leak about other flagships from Samsung, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra, which are said to also use this battery technology.

Stacked battery technology uses an advanced manufacturing method called lamination, in which the battery's components and separators are "stacked" into thin layers instead of rolled up like conventional batteries.

This helps optimize space and makes stacked batteries have larger capacity than conventional batteries of the same size.

It should be noted that after the iPhone 15 went on sale, YouTuber "PBKreviews" shared a teardown of the iPhone 15 Pro and confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro is equipped with a 3,274 mAh battery as previously rumored.

That also means the battery capacities of the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are 3,349 mAh, 4,383 mAh, 3,274 mAh and 4,422 mAh respectively.

For comparison, the battery capacity of the iPhone 14 is 3,279 mAh, the iPhone 14 Plus is 4,325 mAh, the iPhone 14 Pro is 3,200 mAh, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max is 4,323 mAh.

But now brings sad news?

A few hours ago, "RGcloudS" reappeared, but this time the leaker gave an analysis related to a very serious problem that is happening with iPhone 15 models.

Specifically, many users are concerned that the batteries on Apple's latest smartphones are degrading faster than before, with reports of one phone's battery swelling after just a few days of use.

The phenomenon of phone battery swelling comes from 2 causes.

First of all, because lithium batteries are not "eternal", they can suddenly swell after many charges (up to hundreds), the use of unintelligent chargers - which are not capable of automatically shutting off after the battery capacity has reached 100%, or even the habit of using the phone while charging.

The second reason comes from the fact that the battery (and the phone) are often in temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius (or 95 degrees Fahrenheit), which makes the battery very susceptible to damage and swelling, and charging the battery at this temperature will damage the battery even faster.

According to one user, his iPhone 15 Pro experienced a swollen battery that caused the screen to lift off the frame after only 4 days of use.

"RGcloudS" claims that the reason the iPhone 15 and even the iPhone 14, 13, and 12 batteries degrade so quickly is because they all use 600 full charge cycle batteries.

The leaker also notes that these types of batteries are typically used in much cheaper products like power banks or handheld vacuum cleaners, and that since these devices don't require charging once a day, users won't see any issues with them.

Continuing to "dig deeper" into this topic, "RGcloudS" emphasized that Apple's use of this type of battery is "unacceptable" but the company still does it to cut production costs.

As Apple has added more and more complex features to the iPhone (especially the Pro models), the battery has been draining faster. However, because the battery has fewer charge cycles, it will degrade faster.

"RGcloudS" also notes that most smartphones currently use batteries that last 800 or even 1,200 full charge cycles, so it's a long time before they run into battery issues. However, they have to cut costs on chips, cameras, and displays rather than batteries.

It should be noted that the information provided by "RGcloudS" is based on studying a replacement battery for the iPhone 12 Pro Max from the manufacturer REPART, not from an iPhone 15, so it still needs to be verified.

However, in July this year, after many users reported that their iPhone 14s were less than a year old but had a maximum battery capacity of only about 90%, Apple noted:

"The (iPhone) battery is typically designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity after 500 full charge cycles. The 1-year warranty (included with iPhone) includes warranty service for a defective battery. If the warranty has expired, Apple may provide a battery replacement for a fee."

In addition to the information about the "cheap" battery in the iPhone 15, "RGcloudS" also criticized Apple for cutting costs on the iPhone 15's heat dissipation, which led to the overheating phenomenon recorded on the current iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.

The leaker also claims that "low-end Chinese smartphones with heatsinks that cost only $4" also cool better than " the world's top smartphones today".

It is known that Apple has announced that the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max overheating problem may be resolved through the iOS 17.0.3 update that the company just released a few hours ago.

The company also denied previous rumors that the incident was related to the A17 Pro chip and the titanium frame of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, according to some users, this year's top iPhones are even hotter after the iOS 17.0.3 update - although "cooling down very quickly".
