From lost passport incident to infatuation with Vietnam

Recently, a Chinese man named Truong Dai Soai (born in 1995) with the TikTok channel "Dai Soai in Vietnam" has attracted the attention of netizens thanks to clips sharing about life in Vietnam, including clips reaching more than 3 million views.

Up to now, Truong Dai Soai has been staying in Vietnam for nearly 2 months. In the clips posted, he expressed his excitement and delight when exploring the roads, restaurants, and nature in the coastal city of Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa).

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Dai Soai said that he was a music teacher working in Guangdong (China). Initially, he came to Vietnam alone to travel but lost his passport because he left it on the bus, so he had to stay in Vietnam longer than expected.

After that, even though he found his passport again, the Chinese man was still in no hurry to return home because he was fascinated by the peaceful and interesting life in Vietnam.

“Losing my passport was a memorable incident for me. It was also a chance for me to stay in Vietnam and discover many interesting things. After experiencing it, I realized that this country is peaceful, interesting, has rich cuisine , and lovely people,” said the General.

Zhang Da Soai said that when he lost his passport, he asked many people in the park to borrow their phones so he could call to find his passport. However, some people were shy when meeting strangers, and many others did not know Chinese, so it was difficult for them to help Da Soai.

Luckily, the General met Dang Tien Dung (born in 1990) - a person living and working in Nha Trang and able to communicate in Chinese. Thanks to that, he quickly found his passport.

Since then, Tien Dung has accompanied the Marshal on his journey to explore Vietnam, helping him translate, film and make clips to post on social networks.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Dang Tien Dung said that because Dai Soai used common Chinese, he could understand and translate easily.

Tien Dung shared: “After knowing that Dai Soai wanted to stay in Vietnam for a long time, I suggested that Dai Soai rent a long-term hotel near the area where I live so that I could conveniently support him. We are all young people with similar views on life, so we got along very well.”

Currently, Truong Dai Soai lives in Nha Trang and plans to stay here for 3 months before returning to China. He said that after exploring Nha Trang, he still wants to go to many other places, including Ho Chi Minh City, to discover more interesting things.

Surprising story about eating raw vegetables and the way Vietnamese people cross the street

Truong Dai Soai confided that in nearly 2 months of living in Vietnam, he had the chance to meet many people, from the driver to the water seller, everyone was very friendly and kind to him. It was because life in Vietnam was peaceful that he was able to stay here for so long.

“Since I found my passport, I have not encountered any difficulties, only occasionally I was chased by dogs, because the people around me keep a lot of dogs (laughs). Vietnam has many interesting things, like when traveling by boat in Nha Trang, you will experience many emotions.

There is a band on the ship, tourists from any country can dance and sing. The sea water here is very clear, you can open your eyes underwater to see the beautiful scenery without burning your eyes. I also know that in Vietnam, people often use fish sauce in their cuisine. Every restaurant has fish sauce and there are many different types of fish sauce," said the General.

The Chinese man also said that one of the things that impressed him when he came to Vietnam was the very simple cuisine. In fact, many meals only consisted of unseasoned boiled vegetables, eaten with dipping sauce.

“When eating vermicelli, glass noodles, or pho at restaurants, customers are always given a plate of raw vegetables by the owner. At first, I found it strange. Why would we eat uncooked vegetables with vermicelli or glass noodles? But after getting used to it, eating dishes with green vegetables has become a healthy habit.

This also helps me answer the question of why the rate of obesity in Vietnam is so low. Most of the girls have slim bodies, probably due to their healthy and nutritious eating habits. Therefore, tourists who want to lose weight can rest assured when traveling to Vietnam,” the General said happily.

Another interesting thing that the General experienced during his journey of discovery was that Vietnam has a lot of motorbikes. Calling a taxi in the city is also very easy. What especially surprised the Chinese guy was the ability of Vietnamese people to cross the street, even though the roads are extremely crowded.

“At first, I didn't dare to cross the street, but then I learned to raise my hands above my head, and people would stop their vehicles. Otherwise, you would have to stand there for a long time, not daring to cross the street,” said the Marshal.

In addition, he said he was very surprised that his life in Vietnam attracted a lot of attention. Not only did the clips posted on the TikTok channel "Dai Soai in Vietnam" receive high views, but the clips of Dai Soai exploring Vietnam posted on Tien Dung's TikTok channel also received great attention from netizens.

Many people even texted Dai Soai, hoping he would share more about his experiences exploring other regions in Vietnam. For him, that was a great joy, a motivation to carry out his plan to visit all 63 provinces and cities of Vietnam next year.

Truong Dai Soai said that in the future, he will produce more well-prepared and interesting clips about Vietnam, helping Chinese people in particular and many people in other countries in general, understand more about life in Vietnam.

“Thanks to these sincere feelings, I stayed in Vietnam longer than expected. This is a country worth experiencing and exploring,” he confided.
