ChatGPT becomes a "nightmare" causing Facebook to gradually lose users
ChatGPT is slowly taking over Meta's 20-year lifeblood, user attention.

ChatGPT is not only a rival to Google or Microsoft, but is also the biggest threat to Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram. According to new data, ChatGPT has over 125 million daily users with an average of 14 minutes per session, causing Meta's engagement to plummet.
ChatGPT users send up to 2.5 billion requests per day, making the platform a compelling “ad-free social network.” Meta, which lives off of user engagement and ad viewing time, is expected to generate more than $160 billion in revenue by 2024 alone.
But as ChatGPT became a friend who listened, empathized, and responded personalized, users gradually moved away from Facebook. AI models like ChatGPT are building real 1:1 relationships with people that social media has never been able to do.
If just a fraction of Meta's 3.3 billion users switch to AI, advertising revenue could drop by tens of billions of dollars. The race is no longer about technology, but about the battle for users' "hearts and time" between Facebook and ChatGPT.
