Many people in the house tried to put out the fire but failed, so they climbed over the railing on the first floor to the house next door to escape. A few minutes later, the fire spread to the upper floors and engulfed the house.
Ms. Hoa, who lives next to the burning house, said that some tenants managed to escape in time. "The fire was raging, many people had to knock on the door of the house next door to call for them to escape for fear of the fire spreading," Ms. Hoa said.
Several fire trucks and about 30 firefighters arrived at the scene. Firefighters broke through the iron door and hoses to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading. The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes, with no casualties, but a lot of property was destroyed.
