On the evening of December 24, the People's Committee of Ngoc Reo commune, Dak Ha district, Kon Tum province announced that a fire had just occurred at the communal house in Kon Jong village.
At noon of the same day, there were 3 children including A Thuat, A Quan (both 12 years old) and A Ngoc (10 years old, all living in Kon Jong village, Ngoc Reo commune) sitting and playing under the communal house of Kon Jong village, Ngoc Reo commune.
The communal house was made of flammable materials and had a thatched roof, so the fire broke out fiercely.
The communal house was completely burned down.
While sitting and playing, these three children held lighters to burn paper and smoke cigarettes. Then, when all three children went outside, only a few minutes later they looked back and saw flames burning at the communal house.
Upon discovering the incident, the People's Committee of Ngoc Reo commune directed the commune police and relevant agencies to go to the scene to extinguish the fire.
However, at the time of the fire, the wind was strong and the materials of the communal house were dry…so the fire spread and burned down the communal house.
Currently, authorities are coordinating with Ngoc Reo commune and Kon Jong village to investigate the communal house fire.
Fortunately, the fire did not cause any human casualties, but it damaged 36 bags of cement in the communal house (gathered to build a new communal house next door), 1 iron cutter, and the village's radio loudspeaker system. The total initial damage was estimated at about 56 million VND.
