When the house caught fire, there were four people inside: Ms. T. (born in 1998) and her three young children who were sleeping. Authorities woke all four and they safely evacuated.
Simultaneously, firefighting equipment was used, along with transporting water from the stream, to control the flames. However, because the stilt house was made of wood and strong southwest winds were blowing, the fire spread rapidly to the house of the younger brother next door.

The fire completely destroyed two houses and many belongings, with estimated damages amounting to hundreds of millions of dong. The initial cause has been determined to be an electrical short circuit.

The Ba Tang Border Guard Station provided each family with 50kg of rice, one box of instant noodles, and dispatched officers and soldiers to help clean up and find ways to rebuild their houses as soon as possible, contributing to stabilizing the families' lives.
